What Auto Makers Recommends What Brand Oils ?

Here in the South Pacific Mitsubishi have their own branded oils - MSL (Mitsubishi Synthetic Lubricant) in 5w30 and 5W-40 for DPF...it's Castrol. The Dia Queen trans oils come direct out of Japan. They also have their own petrol and diesel injector cleaner additives, and an intake cleaner for the GDI engines.

My bad, Dia Queen oils are actually recommended (along with a Castrol product) for the transaxle. But nothing regarding engine oil.
 
I think the OP is asking if there are specific brand oils that are recommended by a manufacturer versus a situation like a manufacturer having their own brand ( TGMO, etc. ) and thus would somehow automatically only recommend that brand. There are several Japanese makes and/or models including Toyota and Honda that sell their own oil but don't recommend a specific brand. I think there are a lot fewer makes that recommend a specific brand ( say referenced in the owners manual or on the oil cap ) than there are the looser approvals or what might be suggested by one dealership vs. another, etc.
