What would yall recommend for a 1.6L Turbo Hyundai Veloster?
I will more than likely use Factory Filters, but if anyone has experiences on what works well, the OM is pretty liberal on SAE Grades, with recommendation being "Shell Helix or Quaker State"

I am thinking Rotella T6 or Pennzoil Platinum 5w40

Between these two, I'd certainly go with PP. Rotella T6 has an unimpressive Noack.

Hyundai recommends QS and Shell Helix
They recommend a ACEA B5 oil as well.

Are there any SOPUS products that meet B5? If I remember correctly the old pre pure plus Pennzoil platinum was B5 in 10w30

Yeah, my apologies, ACEA A5

Found Shell Helix 0w30 is rated that, all I've seen so far, and that was online, I don't know where in the states to find that

rofl!read my signature . that oil do! sadly for lawyer it does not so i cant recommend him using it !

Mobil 1 probably meets A5, as would the Castrol varieties, though they both yanked the specs, M1 first, then Castrol. Castrol, at least, explained that it is to return, with some reference to some biodiesel testing matters. In any case, Platinum and Ultra in 5w30 do meet A5/B5. If it were me, I'd use Quaker State Ultimate Durability interchangeably.

yvon_la: Delvac 1 LE 5w30 is CJ-4/SN E6, E7, E9, not A5/B5. Of course, that Delvac 1 does meet Nissan/Infiniti standards for 5w30, since they technically do not call for an ILSAC 5w30. ILSAC certification is only an option.

+1

Some early Veloster Turbos lost their engines really fast due to severe LSPI. The engine was retuned and the early blowups seemed to stop, but I'd still be worried about the issue and have been using Mobil 1 5W30 in my DIT engine since it is supposed to be low in calcium. Next change, I will try Mobil 1 ESP 5w30, which is also low calcium and a bit more robust than regular Mobil 1.

The awkward thing today:
I went into Walmart, looked at all grades of Quaker State Ultimate Durability API SN, none had ACEA specs.
Went to AAP, Quaker State Ultimate Durability 10w30 API SN had ACEA A1/A5.

Identical bottles as Walmart, Identical Labels, Other specs all the same. Just one had ACEA and one Didn't?

Looking at VOAs of Valvoline Synpower 10w30 which carried ACEA A5, I see tons of calcium, and from what I hear these engines don't like major calcium add packs?

I would leave the FF in until the OLM triggers a change is needed. I would also make my 1st change a synthetic blend to help seat the rings better. After that, full synthetic should be fine. The factory filters are good - what does the OM say as to recommended oil?
