I used to watch [censored]'s Kitchen, which I don't really consider a cooking show, but entertainment. However, the teams are now comprised of lowlives picked from the dregs of society and I have no desire whatsoever to watch their morosity. How do they find these people? Who wants those trogs cooking for them? Ack!

I usually don't watch cooking shows, because I don't get much out of them in terms of enjoyment or information. I have occasionally watched a bit Jacques Pepin or Julia Child and some Chef Prudhomme -- or was that Dom DeLuise? It's pretty much all I get over the air anyway.

Heck's Kitchen has really gone down hill. It has succumbed to to the low bar set by all of the other reality shows. I still like the show, but not for cooking. I just tune in to watch Ramsay ream the contestants. They really picked from the bottom of the barrel with this group. I mean what's up with Louross' hair? Looks like Sonic the Hedgehog.

Andrew Zimmermann lives locally (MPLS/STPL) and is a food critic for a local magazine. His show is cool, mostly exposing that what different cultures consider to be high cuisine is very different than American tastes. All done in a decent respectful manner while providing good entertainment value. Nothing like seeing a guy eat bulls balls, intestines, brains, chicken uterus, and all that awful offal.

On a similar note, someone asked Anthony Bourdain what the worst thing he had ever eaten was. His reply? "Chicken McNuggets." Awesome.

Except for the cocoanut cake episode, I've always like Alton Brown's "Good Eats" and "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares".

Most of the rest are way over the top. If it takes longer to cook than to eat, I'm not interested.

Paula Deen? I guess she lives in the south, but she is more of a citified southerner. She's a fake. Way too "showy" for me.

I agree about Alton. If you can tell me why, I might listen. We have started using some of Flay's grill recipes. For the most part, they have been pretty good.
