Hauled two loads of rock this morning and quit around noon due to the heat. I think the heat index hit 112 for a while today. Supposed to me miserable the rest of the week too.
One of our brush trucks at the fire department (1994 Ram 2500 V10) wasn’t idling well or shifting right the last time I drove it so I had planned to put a throttle position sensor in it. I got the sensor today and as always it turned out worse than expected. The air filter had collapsed filling the throttle body and engine with ash, dust and everything else we can pick up while working grass fires. The IAC solenoid was completely stuck. New TPS, IAC and a ton of cleaning has it running better than it ever has in my time on the department. New air filter will be here in the morning.
A local shop is supposed to be keeping up with the maintenance on the trucks but obviously isn’t doing a good job. I’d say oil changes are all that’s being done.
