Replacing a water pump on my Jaguar X-type... it’s a little whiny and gravelly, and it’s cheap and easy to replace. I got an AC Delco pump to go in it along with the proper pink coolant. Should be easy (probably jinxed it!)...![]()
My phrase is "this job should be a piece of cake," which is my jinx.
Nice quick save.Daughter came out in a panic and said the Vibe wouldn’t start and she needed to be at work. Venza was apart yet so pulled out the multimeter and had 10.5V on the Vibe battery. Went and grabbed the battery my Wife bought for the Venza while stranded at a hockey rink. Happened to be an Autozone across the street so she bought the $100 special and they put it in and away she went. I warrantied the Die Hard Golid at AAP a couple of weeks later and did the swap (it was rifle season for deer, no way I’m doing anything but hunt during that time). Well I took the 8 month old battery and swapped it in the Vibe and away she went, alternator is fine.
Old battery that was too small for the battery tray. Must have been easy for the previous owner.

Battery from Autozone was a 24 and fit like a glove. I’ll be cleaning the clamps and putting some goop on for the corrosion today.
Driving 17yo cars is so much fun. Never a dull moment with upkeep.
Wife wanted to return the battery to an Autozone that’s 45 minutes away and I told her no way Jose. We will keep it for the Vibe when that battery dies. Well, it died.Nice quick save.
Who do you send the bill to?Neat fire call this morning. I had just delivered my 5th load of rock and was headed back to town when we were paged out to an “aircraft down”-that’s the information we had to operate on. I made a quick trip to the fire station in the dump truck and grabbed a truck. As it turned out a Black Hawk was experiencing some issues and made an emergency landing in a hay field. No injuries or damage. I left to go to another fire while they were doing a ground run but my understanding is that another Black Hawk brought parts and a maintenance crew and got it repaired and back in the air.
Our local air care helicopter is the only one I had been around in person but these are huge. It was a cool experience made better by no injuries or damage to anything.
