Drove 616 miles to North Platte NE yesterday to see Bailey Yard and Golden Spike Tower. Slowly working my way back east on 80 today. Hoping to have time to stop at the Strategic Air Command Museum today.
well I check the power supply in my car a few days back and a local a autoparts store and everything turned out OK within the specification including battery, so the only place for a Honda Sensing would be the trip to the dealerDriving with a failed alternator for an extended period of time damaged your battery.
However, without reading the codes, you cannot conclude this to be your issue.
Had the same experience with our '08 F150.I pulled the alternator on the 2002 Sunfire. After removing the black back cover, i found that I dont have the juice in my soldering iron to desolder the pins in order to split the thing. Ok fine. I check the brushes, which aren't bad and then add some grease to the front bearing. Alright, that's where I will end. I pop her back in and as soon as I connect the battery back up, I fry something. Oh great, well that's a great intro to alternators for old Brian. Tomorrow I will rip it off again and see what's salvageable and go from there.

I grabbed used on ebay. Good idea? Not sure yet. They seem to get hot, so that's promising. Some of this (used) stuff hearkens back to when items were built to last. One of the power cords is the old-timey almost checkered pattern and seems more cloth or canvas than rubber. Hopefully that makes sense.@D60 thats what I would need but ****, can't justify the price yet. Likely I will have to bring in the alternator as a core and get a reman unit. I hate dumping money in, heck this thing doubles in value when I fill it with gas but man I like driving beaters.
Is that like when you stop at McDonald's, but not because you're hungry?Loaded truck from shop. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMP RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!

Hahaha! I might need to change my handle to "f.r. ripcord", lol. I'd be lying if I said I'd never messed up worse than that.Well boys, old Brian caught a break with Shtty Blue. I will now name the work I am doing with this car, "Project Dribbly Bastard."
So, i called up Napa this morning and had them order up a reman alternator, would arrive next day. There is no way I did not fry the **** thing up. It made welding noises, gave me a light show and smoked worse than the crack heads down town.
I went out after lunch to remove it, which I have down to about 15 minutes. I put the jack under the oil pan and remove the engine mount. Then jack the engine up a bit more and I have about as much room to work as it allows.
The alternator popped out and I had a suspicion of what went wrong. Yep, functionally retarded Brian made a mistake. I clocked the thing when installing the four etorx bolts back in, the ones that hold the voltage regulator in. Well one bolt is insulated and it went in the wrong spot. The bolt that replaced it had a fry session but surprisingly was largely intact and the metal contacts were fine. I put it back together "correctly" and hooked up the battery with optimism and it nothing happend. I put her all back together and it runs as good as it ever did. Oh and yesterday the new NTK O2 sensor went in with no drama.
