Today is the day that the Ford and the Toyota get their first treatment of VRP.
Both cars have 165k miles on them. I'm going to go through 5 OGI with them both.
The Ford has had M1 EP 5W-30 from day one and I can see it is bright silver inside. The Toyota has had M1 EP for as long as I've owned it. It has a tan hue to it I hope to clean off.

Getting some lawn mower parts ordered for my old John Deere LA115. My wife and I are buying a new (to us) house on a small lot and my Father in law is letting me have my old mower back for the new place. The mower I've been using (JD Z535M) where I currently live belongs to the owner of the house we've been living in and stays behind. It belongs to my wife's Aunt, and I'll probably still be using (and maintaining) it to cut her yard at least for a while.

So far for the LA115, I've ordered a new OEM spark plug, new OEM oil, air, and fuel filters, and I'll change the oil with whatever I have on hand. Blades were replaced just before giving the mower to my FIL several years ago and he's only used the mower as a tiny tractor to move things around his property, not for mowing, so they shouldn't need replacing. Will assess condition of belts this weekend and may order new. I'm going to be a busy boy this mowing season.

2008 Chevrolet Malibu 2.2 Ecotec 4 cylinder
Replaced valve cover gasket, spark plugs, ignition coils, air filter, accelerator pedal assembly, rotated tires, changed oil

1995 GMC Sierra 1500 5.7 V8
Started an intake gasket replacement job, was going well until the right front intake bolt snapped off in the head. 😒 It's soaking in penetrant and I'll revisit it next week

2006 GMC Sierra 2500 HD
Replaced tailgate handle, greased tailgate latches

Not sure what I am going to do from here.
I’m guessing you’ve already tried a continuity test on the wire between the plugs to make sure critters didn’t chew it and also tested to make sure it’s not grounding?
I ain’t an auto electrician so would also just run a new wire.

Starting the Honda CL100 for the first time since last fall. Didn't go so well. First surprise, the float valve on the Chinese clone carburetor has frozen open and it's spitting fuel out the overflow. So, some quick repairs to pull the carburetor off, and free up the float valve. That fixed, the next surprise is the fuel line has a crack in it. A trip to Autozone for some new fuel line, and it's back in business. Engine started on the first kick, despite a weak battery. Now I need to figure out if the headlight burned out or if I have electrical problems. Taillight works, high beam works, but no low beam.

Road test in friend’s C2. Died 2 miles from home and we had to push it into a parking lot. Issue? Inaccurate fuel gauge, we ran the tank dry. We were 1/4 mile from a gas station, so it all worked out ok. Now we know how it runs 1 mile prior to going bone dry!

Front brake cleaning on the QX60. Remove wheels, tip up calipers and remove pads and hardware for cleaning and re-application of anti seize per SMA standard procedure. Noticed the inner LF pad is wearing on a taper, but slide pins are all good. Thinner part of the single bad pad still has 5mm material, so it can wait on replacement until next year.

Dual piston?

I am at my parents place using their carport to change out an 18 month old universal joint on my samurai.
I am 3 hours in and all I have done with the car is put down a pit mat.
But I have fixed their garage door, swept their driveway, changed an interior light bulb, and diagnosed the extremely bad ceiling leak as being a leaking air con drain pipe.

Well this project has drug on forever: '21 Polaris Ranger for my non-profit.

It suddenly had difficulty finding gears, and I found the roller shift pawl broken. This is a fairly common failure and I ordered the part.

We then had a (community service) "volunteer" who was supposed to be le mekanik extraordinaire. Since I haven't had time to touch it, we had him replace the part. NO CHANGE.

Sent him on his way and I got to wondering if it could be assembled incorrectly. Indeed, he had screwed it up.

Before I referenced any service data I pulled the cover and just gaming it out in my head the way it was assembled clearly couldn't work.

I failed to get any more pics but this is what the inner workings look like:

Apparently you still can get an OEM tailgate bezel for GMT800 trucks. I thought the overabundance of Dorman replacements at auto parts stores means the OEM part isn't made anymore. Fits way better than any aftermarket part.

Digging in to the bad headlight on the motorcycle (1972 Honda CL100). Worked last fall, but now it has no low beam. Fortunately, turned out to be the most likely scenario, the old headlight just burned out. Much to my surprise, it doesn't plug in like I expected, but it has wires permanently attached to it, with some boots to protect the connectors. Found a replacement on Amazon. Also found I had a crack in the plastic shell that covers the battery box, so I Super Glued the crack, and patched the inside with some epoxy and fiberglass to reinforce it.

It was one of those days yesterday.

Finally got started on the above mentioned u-joint and one of the flange yoke ears was excessively worn and the cap could be pressed in and out by hand. Got a spare flange yoke out of the parts pile and got that sorted.

I then discovered one of the ears on the drive shaft yoke was also worn. I didn’t have a spare drive shaft so I put 4 small chisel marks on the inside of the ear so that the cap will hopefully hold tight.

Got it assembled and tried to grease the joint but couldn’t get the grease flowing out of all 4 sides. By this time I had been at my parents place for 9 hours and was exhausted from working in 95° heat and decided to borrow the spare car and go home.
