What are you working on today?

Improved range of garage door opener!

2006 Expedition with mystery window washer fluid loss.

I did a little searching and the line to the rear has a connector behind the right kick panel which is notorious for separating.

I pulled the kick panel and fortunately the problem WAS here but it was rodent damage!

Few weeks ago I found one hose I replaced 5yrs ago to be sweating. I replaced all hoses 5yrs ago, and those accessible ones, I installed Rein instead of BMW. Mistake! But whatever. That made me think that at 150k I am probably on borrowed time with radiator.
Ordered new one, Mahle/Behr, $168. It is relatively easy job, in my case being bit complicated to “fish” out fan assembly and radiator due to oil cooler lines. Since, I got fan and radiator out, I had access to serpentine belt that has maybe 45k. Interval is 80k. I just changed it, because why not. Idler is not making any noise, and old belt looked pretty good.
Everything is back, car started, now just waiting HPL MTFLife 75W to put in gearbox bcs. @MolaKule made me do it 😂

Finally got the LED high beams put in my 2017 Ram 3500 with the quadratic headlights. As most know, the factory light output is marginally better than holding a candle out in front.

Picked up some Sylvania plug and play lights well before Christmas but needed extended dust caps to make the larger bulbs fit. Due to our onths long postal strike, I shied away from ordering anything.

A few things of note, the 3D printed caps needed a bit of cleanup on the locking tabs and both the old halogen and new LED bulbs had undersized o rings that caused a loose fit. Once that was rectified, it's an easy job. As you can see, the light output is much improved.

2011 Nissan Altima
Replaced front brake rotors and pads, replaced air filter, rotated tires, changed oil

Replaced the wheels on a set of pallet jacks. The Amazon source wheel kit came with all three pairs of wheels, wheel pins, roll pins, snap rings, dust caps, snap ring pliers and roll pin punches for ~$90 and free shipping

The '05 Sienna also had considerable splash shield damage. I'm not surprised as the owner is very active and these are AWD but man it sits low.

He had run some bailing wire through the crossmember but for fun I decided to get jiggy wit it. I dropped a couple nutserts in pre-existing holes and made a flat bar "mega washer" to spread the load. I c-sunk for flat head screws and I prefer to stamp the thread size, esp if performing the blasphemous action of fractional on a metric Toyota ;)

2013 Cummins ISX12 (11.9L), 11,000 engine hours. Came in for multiple oil leaks. Found the CCV filter had not been changed for some time. Changed the filter but The engine still has a fair amount of blow by/crank case pressure. It seems to me it’s more one cylinder than even wear, it has a bit of a pulse out the oil fill cap. Made my recommendations for an inframe but decided to roll the dice with repairing the oil leaks. In the process of replacing the rocker box gasket, valve cover gasket, power steering pump gasket, air compressor gasket, full EGR cooler seal kit along with any other necessary seals. ISX engines are more labor intensive than an ISL. a lot more crap on them as you can see from the pile of parts. Have some of the seals in stock, but waiting for a handful more.

Upon removal of the steering pump, it pulled the threads out of the aluminum housing that supports the drive gear off of the gear train to run the pump when I removed the bolt. Possible someone overtightened it when the pump was changed last. Had to pull it off to heli coil it. One thing I did not initially plan on.

It's no problem if I run over that. It's just laying flat on the ground. What trouble can it cause?
OR
I follow much too close to the next car so I can't see the road enough so I don't know something is laying there because I'm an idiot driver.

SMH either way.

Last night, some new Hondas checked in and inspected and PDI’d. The 2018 F-250 plow truck got an oil change and tire psi check. Has the 6.2 Godzilla engine in it. Oil only had 350 miles on it. Greased zeros on salt spreader and anywhere else.

Well, I got a P0101 code on my 2012 Altima (MAF), and i forgot to punch the button so the car would turn OFF.

Went out later and saw ON, and had to use the key to get in.

Prologix battery charger said 0% and 7.3v (12 degrees F).

Decided to put on 10a and charge overnight.

Now she says 12.8 and 100%.

Time will tell!

Unsure why the car didn't shut itself off like they say it will.

Interstate battery, 2-4 years old.
