What are you working on today?

2000 Toyota Tacoma
Replaced fuel pump, but the actual problem was a split hose on the sending unit assembly. Also changed oil.

Finished up with the basket case '17 Optima
Front pads and rotors (Raybestos Element3) kit
I didn't hate this one, the pads and hardware almost fit together
That piston boot is sad tho
There was nothing left, I'd have given it ~10 days till grinding 😔
Yet again missing anti drag hardware and nickel anti seize on the slide pins instead of silicone paste 🙄

How does that even happen 🤨

That's better, some stopping may actually occur here 😤

I'm also proud to say that it went a whole 1000 miles before needing another quart of 5w40 👏
It's still gonna blow eventually, but it's not fouling out the plugs every 10 days now 👍
Oh, and I swapped the belt tensioner, wow the worst spot for a cap head fastener 🙄

Took it for a light 🫣 test drive on an empty stretch of parkway for some brake bedding, and it actually stops now 🙂

It was a slow day for me due to lots and lots of rain. I had my annual wellness checkup which I'll post the story for all of you to laugh at/with me.

Thought it was just going to be a normal height/weight/bp check and nothing more so I wasn't too worried about it. I don't do well with needles or blood and often will pass out. I was surprised to have the doctor inform me that he wanted to check my cholesterol. I reluctantly agreed with the understanding that the phlebotomist knows that I don't want to see any of what she's doing. They were great and I hardly even knew she had drawn blood when it was over. I was thinking that I felt fine and was ready to go.

I walk out to the window where the nurse is setting my appointment for next year when I start feeling light-headed. I mentally tell myself that I have to make it to the truck and then I'll sort it out(flawed thinking I know). I barely cleared the front door of the doctor's office and it was lights out and face first on the sidewalk. Fortunately they saw it and helped me into a chair in the waiting room. I leveled out in a few minutes and was back to normal. This was the first time I had a delayed response usually if I have a problem it will be during the procedure in the exam room.

I had a good laugh when it was over and informed the nurses who were very concerned that "it was a good thing I didn't hit my face too hard because I can't afford to get any uglier".

@Creekside, an entire family I know has this same faint-upon-needles thing. It’s called a vaso-vagal response. The VV is a nerve that runs up in front of the spine. As they explained to me, if pressed or pinched, the blood pressure drops and one passes out. Sight or thought of blood, or certain stomach inflammations, set it off.

I think I have the same thing, except with alarm clocks.

And the fun begins.... Overhaul of my spare 1974 BMW 2002 engine, the original one to the car. Ran really well but a clattery, metal making mess. I think it was either cooked or abused by a prior owner as the car is relatively low mileage.

Now what to do with her??? I will keep her generally stock maybe w/ some conservative improvements.

New battery on my 2012 F150
O Reillys AGM to replace the Continental that was in the truck when I bought it 5 years ago. The Continental served me extremely well and I hope the AGM does the same. Got the battery reset at the local service station

More content heavy on technical, intricate repairs (<----not everyone can tell, but that's called sarcasm)

Clamped for awhile as an abundance of caution:

No idea how well it'll hold up but for now it's much improved:

Side job for today. 2016 jeep grand Cherokee limited. 53,000 miles. Radiator, water pump both leaking, requested both AGM batteries (located under the front passenger seat in this vehicle). Found ac condenser leaking when apart, also had to cut lower hose off water pump, stuck from corrosion.

Going to bring it back when he recovers from this repair for oil cooler that is leaking.

Side note; all parts ridiculously expensive for this jeep for some reason.
