What are you working on today?

Replaced the Hydroboost on my 2002 GMC 3500. Laying on my back under the dash with my legs hanging out of the truck was a lot easier at 23 than 63.
Good news! Today you can identify as any age you choose. Make believe is reality, so if you say you're 23, you are. Period. You could even identify as an under-dash creeper.....which might have a couple different meanings here, esp if you start hitting on actual 23-year-olds......

Worked on the RV.. Chevy 3500 6.0L. Changed out the AC Delco Gold for a regular. Hated the lower PSI, ran 2 and both lowered the PSI but at least 10 and even more at idle. Attempted to bleed the cooling system again. Didn't overheat completely but ran a little hotter than normal, and turning on the heat made it run hotter weird. Got a couple big bubbles and few small ones. Let it run 30 minutes and varied the RPM's. And yes did the factory recommended bleed procedure twice.

2006 Hummer H3: owner states he previously replaced the p/s return line (not sure why). It failed again because he had hardlines wedged on top of one another. Wore a hole in the hardline. I routed the replacement under rather than over the pressure line this time, seems to relieve pressure.

Why couldn't they just put a big hex/Allen in the end like everyone else does 🤷‍♂️
How to they expect you to fit a ~30mm in that tight space with the pan in situ 🤨
The only compliment I can give it is the oil filter location on the R18 engine is a much easier change than earlier B/D series back up on the block facing the firewall 🙄
I figured it wouldn't be an easy task.

I got those nuts when I was contemplating changing the cartridge filter to a spin-on on the Legend. I found the NOS filter adapter from a Sterling NOS parts dealer; he wasn't asking very much and it's a direct swap. I still might do it once I go through all the cartridge filters I've accumulated. But I'll probably be dead before then.

Went on a whirl wind tour of Kansas City today. Went to the Ford Dealer to get an appointment for "All My Recalls" and to have a dash cam installed that I purchased on FordAccessories.com. They were 20% off on the device and the install. I had to use my $217 in Ford pass points before they expired in January. Did need anything else and I was not going to let them expire.

You say how is this work? Dealing with service writers who are stressing over my 8 recalls and the dash cam install, is work.

Outside of contamination....I rarely have to replace a CP3
It has certainly been a learning experience for the boy and I. Not super hard, but we are trying to do it right. New return lines, new fuel rail to injector lines all new fasteners, injector cups. You get the idea.

How do you feel about red Loctite on the injector cups? I see a lot people put it on there. We start the reinstall tomorrow. It was slow going due to having remove some stripped out valve cover and injector return line fasteners. I am fairly certain his diesel in the oil was from leaky injector return lines as it ran fine with no smoke, but he has getting diesel in the oil the after the new CP3 install. Correct pressure and it was blowing by the seals on those lines. That deep in we decided to do the injectors. Thing ran really nice before can't wait see how it runs now. I am really starting to be less afraid of the Duramax after the stuff we have done to this truck.

Loctite or some kind of Anaerobic sealer

Trying to figure out my 4.0L ZJ starting/stalling gremlin. Narrowed it down to the PCM or PCM connection.

Check that your downstream oxygen sensor isn't rubbing the rear driveshaft. That causes a lot of issues with ZJs. It could be shorting for a second cause it to stall out. It could potentially blow the PCM entirely.

And , general 4.0 stalling / not starting, there is a ground on the engine block on the passenger side kind of infront of the distributor / behind the alternator (XJ, 97-01 TJ not sure on ZJ). That goes bad and will cause them to stall out and not start.

Thanks, I'll give those a look. Symptoms right now are cranking no start at cold start until I go open the hood and wiggle on the PCM connectors, then it fires up. Pressing same connectors, can cause car to stall/want to die.

Not really wanting to drive it around: it died on me while driving on the street, a very busy street.

The owner decided it needed inner & outer TREs, all front ball joints and sway bar links. Not sure why as most of this stuff was fine. He bought all the parts at Autozone then figured out he was in over his head and brought it to me.

It was one of those jobs that was enjoyable because it allowed me to appreciate being well-tooled. It was a pleasure to work on it at chest height on my lift. The Icon BJ press worked well (testing in place of my BJP1), mostly. My OTC 7503 and 7503HD pullers made quick work of all BJ and TRE connections without having to wail on aluminum knuckles. My 1-7/16" crowfoot broke the inner TREs with minimal drama.

That said, Autozone's site isn't smart enough to filter inner TREs by engine size, and the 4.6 gets M16 threads while the 4.0 gets M18. They sold him the wrong parts here so I'm picking up the correct ones today. Both O'Reilly and NeedAPartA**hole's sites will not suggest the incorrect parts once the 4.6 is ticked. Way to go Autozone ;)
