What are you working on today?

I run new APPS circuits on GMT900's quite often....It's not worth digging into the harness! Sometimes the break is easy to find & near the ECM doing a pull/stress test on the APPS circuits.....
I'll keep that in mind. I didn't work on it today and don't know if I will tomorrow or not. What's involved in replacing the APP harness? I've never done one.

1979 Volkswagen Beetle
Replaced rear wheel cylinders, cleaned and adjusted rear brakes, replaced front outer tie rods, replaced starter

Had to pull the right front wheel off the 57 Cadillac to unstick the brakes. The adjuster was frozen and the shoes had copious amounts of rust imbedded into them from sitting. Just the one wheel, the others are fine...as far as rolling. For those wondering, the haphazard work is due to this being a favor job for my bosses cousin, who inherited the car and has no money. He's trying to get it somewhat sellable. I'd hate to be the prospective buyer 😬

Sometimes you use a lunch pail and build it one piece at a time..... ;)

Yesterday I tried out my new lawn sweeper. it works great as I want to use the leaves down on the pond bank. 22 cu ft hopper so holds a lot. Doesn't do well on turns of uneven spots not at 90 degrees. But most of the leaves I mulch. Under the sycamores, tulips and the big oak though they get knee deep. Also picked up the white pine needles falling now. I rake up all the redwood leaves that fall and use them for mulch. This will make that a lot easer.

Today I'm putting new cable on my 1/2 ton 120V winch. Preparing for the antenna tower lowering. It weighs around 300 lb I figure. But am going to run it though a block and tackle to get more travel as the winch is only 50 ft. I need to run out my block and tackle to see just how much travel I have.

The nightmare Cub Cadet reappeared in my life. I'm so sick of this POS and the overall build quality is poor. I noticed this model is sold in front of my local TSC, which explains everything (built for a price point and mass consumption)

I used to REALLY hate working on the deck before I realized I could get it on my lift. Now I JUST hate working on it.

The RH rear deck mount tore apart again.

This time I added 5 gussets (only 4 visible here)

I give it a month.....

I dunno, it's gone. He uses the piss out of it in a commercial lawn care biz.

This model does dumb stuff like front wheel bushings. The wheel ID is not large enough to fit a bearing, but new wheels may be a possibility.

Then when the bushings wear the spindle gets heavy steps worn in. This particular model has non-serviceable spindles. You just replace the entire monobeam axle assy.

And the entire deck needs to be at least one gauge thicker

It's a consumer grade machine masquerading as commercial grade IMO

I see, I bought mine from TSC and wouldn't ever consider going into business with it. Handles my 3 acres bi-weekly well enough.

I also replaced the half-moon steering gear for him elsewhere in this thread. I don't care how much you use it (within reason), there's no excuse for teeth ripping off like his did. It's simply under-built or poor metallurgy or both.

And what little research I've done suggests all these hydrostatic Cub transmissions are deliberately unserviceable because they simply don't sell parts for them. Fortunately, they don't seem to have problems that often.....but if they do basically you pray it's just low fluid level because that's all you can do. I base that conclusion on this vid, for those who care:

Neighbor needed a pre-road trip inspection of his truck. Did that a few nights ago. Found out one of the wheels was corroded to the axle hub spigot. Gave that and the wheel the wire brush treatment and thin coat of Super Lube on the wheel bore and the spigot.

You mentioned TSC - that’s where I got mine - they have many heavy duty ZT’s and I doubt they’d peddle this entry level machine for commercial use - ZT’s have taken that role …

Swapped the radio in my '12 for one out of a '11. The earlier radio's support DVD playback and utilize an internal HDD for map storage and music storage. It can even record live radio for later listening.

I programmed the unit with my new VCX Nano and a Win 10 laptop. GM's online SPS programming worked flawlessly, totally worth the $45 subscription fee vs. $200 at a dealership.

Small correction tasks with the Lexus.

"Upgraded" the navigation data DVD from the original data Version 1.0 to the latest data (for the Gen 2/3 systems) Version 13.1. Did this just because.

The interior car has always had this oily, grease-like smell. I could even smell it in the trunk.

I thought it was from pre-sale detailing products or 🤷‍♂️ . After I finished with the navigation (~15 minutes), I went into "Simba the Wonder Dog" mode and put my sniffer to work. The smell wasn't coming from the leather, carpet/mats or any other surfaces. Then I went for the cabin filter. There it was. I don't know if these things are oiled, but this thing reeked.

Running the AC, it cleared pretty quick. I'm hoping it isn't refrigerant oil I'm smelling. We'll see.

I had a replacement Denso filter on the shelf.
