What are you working on today?

Removed a trailer hitch from a wrecked 1994 GMC Sierra and installed it on aforementioned 1990 Silverado

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Rotated tires

Taking the rest of the week off

Annual service on my wife’s 07 Accord.

Brake Fluid Exchange - used the pneumatic bleeder, gravity bled for a min and had my wife do a few manual bleeds at each corner. Pedal is now rock hard.

Replaced the oil filter and topped off the oil. Will run the @High Performance Lubricants 10W20 for another year (3K miles).

Yesterday I had a neighbor bring their daughter's 2013 Chevrolet Cruze over to the shop. Right front wheel hub, replaced the coolant bleeder hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the Degas bottle, and changed the oil. Also did some cleaning around the house.

I'm without COVID finally, and it's been an appropriate amount of days since, so I get to rejoin society 🥳
Lovely birthday this year 🙄
Got the Road Hazard claim with TireRack started, swung by the tire shop and ordered a replacement
I could've ordered it and had it delivered, but it was no cheaper, and in person they were able to get it next day 👍
I'll probably be $50 OOP for this swap, which I guess is reasonable these days 😔
I can't wait to see what I get reimbursed, I've never used TireRack road hazard before

Tried to fix the exhaust on the Fusion, only frustrated myself
I'll have to break down and take it to the exhaust shop 🙄

TPMS repair on the Scion, because I can't stand the light flashing at me 👀
Procure and program new sensors
1000008125.jpg

Drive to North shore to visit the cheaper for cash 24 hour tire proprietor
1000008129.jpg

Try to ascertain the price, regret being 🇵🇷 yet speaking little Spanish 😔
Agree on $40 for the exchange of both TPMS sensors
Remove wheel covers to prevent future arguments over damage
1000008128.jpg

Ask for old TPMS sensors back, then realize I think they gave me different old ones 😳
Watch them questionably use the M18 impact and torque wrench
Thank them, go home, refit wheel covers
Remembering that I need to retorque the wheels, because if I get a brake pulsation after this I'm gonna be mad 😡
Remove wheel covers again
Neighbor comes over and asks why I keep removing wheel covers 🙄

I wanna go to bed 🤦‍♂️
That light better stay out 🥺

Now I gotta go to another tire shop to get the Camrys tire swapped so I can make the TireRack Road Hazard claim
Today was tire day 🙄

'87 F150 at my non-profit. The starter bolts had somehow backed off. I was the last one to install this starter so no one to blame but me. Honestly not sure how I screwed it up so well.

Had to chase the threads on the upper bolt hole.

I find it oddly comforting to be working on 3/8-16 threads on a vehicle. I guess I'm a Luddite.

The other day my wife needed the quad for some task. Wouldnt start. Slow turn over so charged battery but no better. Wouldnt fire on pull start either. Fuel in carb, spark checked, pulse coil checked, shot of gas in carb throat all to no avail. Plug was dry, which by that point should be soaked.

Rebuilt the starter, changed the belt and blew the dust out of the clutches while I was in there. Doing this I noticed the carb slipped off the bloody boot!! Put that back on and away we go.

On a side note, the starter was slowly dying so I had a brush kit on hand already. You can see the wear and tear on it. Super simple to rip out and fix. Cost me 8$ but I had to grind down some alignment tabs. As well, I was surprised at the amount of belt dust that came out of the clutches, clouds of it.

My non-profit's GMT900 tow pig. The peeling chrome on the LF door handle was driving me nuts and I was always annoyed by the missing inner trim plate.

An OEM handle was not practical for our budget so I decided to gamble on Dorman. Also black is the most readily available so I decided to give it a go. I actually like it a lot and ultimately no one who drives it will notice (or care).

While the panel was off I investigated the shrieking power window. I found both upper track bolts very loose and I lubed the tracks with Mission silicone grease hoping it might attract less dirt than something like bearing grease. It's quiet for now so I'll take it.

Friday afternoon/Saturday morning
2016 Ram 1500 5.7 V8
Replaced radiator, flushed block, replaced thermostat.

Drained engine oil and hydraulic oil last night on the BX2350, both fluids looked used but not contaminated with water. Replaced both filters. I might cut open the filters later for confirmation. Refilled 12.4 quarts of UDT this afternoon. Also confirmed electrical stuff is functioning regardless of missing headlights and tailights, the fuel pump is clicking and the hour meter shows 1372 hours.

After reading the FSM yesterday I needed to order another O-ring for the head gasket so waiting on more parts.
