What are you working on today?

Wrapped up the remote start install on the xB
Now it's all back together and a car again

I thought I'd treat it to an overdue wash 🧽

Stupid carwash, breaking my stuff 🙄
1000007980.webp

Won't hold itself any longer

I'll give that 24 hours to cure, hopefully that retains it

I like using old brake rotors as furniture bases. Clean them up, paint them well, put felt pads underneath. Use threaded pipe and a wooden top and you have an end table. I‘m making a few as company holiday party give-always, and one for my son who will get his own apartment when he returns from BOLC (training) next year. Working through three table tops and painting a few from the stash of rotors.

Hopefully nothing today. Yesterday changed oil in dad’s truck. That ended up being an absolute mess. He suggested using a drain pan for the filter but I wasn’t able to hold onto the filter as it was slippery that I dropped it covered myself in oil so that point I’m going off and then we put the drain pan in a trash bag in the bed of the truck and it tipped over and got everywhere took it to the car wash and woke up this morning still leaking my license plate is covered so it’s already a start to a bad day. Usually we drop it in a bucket but the lid was sealed on the bucket and we couldn’t get it off even with a pry bar. I’m tired of doing those oil changes but the truck place wants $600 and won’t use Rotella. Hopefully I can find away to clean this mess. He is running my truck in the ground but we don’t have an extra car that runs. I’m hoping it doesn’t need anything today cause I love working on stuff but this is not a week to be messing with me we were way to busy at work this week for that. Maybe I can hand wash the truck today. I hate wasting money at car washes. If the license plate won’t clean up I’ll have to end up ordering new ones cause my license plate has to be in pristine shape. Planned on relaxing today but people always need stuff. If I do anything it will be a bulb and oil change on moms car.

I tried to find out why my delta two tap sink faucet was slow. Checked for water pressure and any plugging in the inlet. Turns out it has a recessed aerator that was plugged. I had to soak the end of the faucet in CLR to remove some calcium before I could inert the tool and turn the internal aerator assembly to unscrew it. It contained 10 years of mung and possible some resin beads from the water softener. The blue key is used to rotate the aerator out. Enjoy.

@Snagglefoot , you mentioned mung...for some reason that brings me back to a halloween skit on SNL by Wayne and Garth, some 30 years ago...

Today I continued working on our 6 horse. I was re-sealing some of the joints and then began work on the roof. Began the arduous task of removing the aged sealant and will be replacing with eternabond in the near future.

Put the snows on the Jeep and I handed my son one of the summer wheels and he was simultaneously trying to look up something on his bloody phone and let the wheel fall over against our rock wall, and now it has three nice gouges in it  I am less than thrilled.

Before I even had my Joe, I reamed the kitchen drain which was getting slow. It runs freely now. Washed one of my late Mom's quilts to use when it really gets cold. Waiting for the roofer to call. Keeping warm with sweatshirt and hat. Heat is turned off, Sol is swingin around to the south, usually heats the house two to three degrees during the afternoon. Going to run the riding mower out of gas to store.
