What are you working on today?

Per customer request on a brand new JD S780: added hopper extensions, replaced sieve trays, installed and ran safety light, replaced turbo boost pipe hose clamps, replaced concave grates and calibrated etc. It was a loooong day.

*EDIT to correct model, it was an S780 fresh off the line. MSRP? $680,000

This into the 20004 LeSabre. Took me 9 hours but that is for the first time taking the engine apart plus cleaning. Would go much faster second time around. The only irritant was the new pipe for the lower intake EGR location. Key to using new upper intake with a metal sleeve inside. The supplied fitting, two identical, were larger than the hole they go into. I was quite angry about that from ATP Graywerks. Couldn't install so decided to put original upper intake back on since inside clearance was 6/16" vs 4/16" in the new version using original tube. Went with the bigger gap for now. Will need to take that fitting down to the machine shop on the USS Hornet and put it on the lathe before I can insert it. Turns out their supplied tube is for pre-99 models while the 99-03 are said to be the smaller version although no mention in the instructions. So one must assume the 04 is the same. Apparently 0.750" down to 0.625". Why not enclose both sizes? I had the kit for the last four years before getting around to it.

I put this Precision lift pump in my non-profit's '02 CTD maybe 18 mos ago. I know they're not great but we just needed to get it back on the road.

Now it's leaking and I'm 98% it's from the rivets in the bottom of the bowl where the electrical plug is retained. It is definitely NOT from any of the three line attachments or banjo bolts -- I wiped around all of them with dry fingers before disturbing anything to remove it.

But hey, it's got a LT warranty. More garbage parts with lifetime garbage guarantee. Yippee

Menards had tulips and other bulbs on sale so I bough bunches. 56 tulips, 48 crocus and 70 Grecian windflowers.

Found a good spot and cleared it. Dug out a trench and started planting. Got done and had extra dirt so I took that over to an old burn pile I wanted to get some grass seed going in. But wasn't enough so got the trailer out and had a dirt pile in front from the tile job. Loaded that up and took it out and finished the grass seed. Then had a skinny can and admired my work.

Also fixed a leaking return air duct I found and installed a battery maintainer under the hood of the Gen Coupe. While out working on the car I heard the neighbors had a tree service over and the chipper was running. I went over and asked it I could have the chips and they gladly delivered a huge pile. I use that as mulch all over.

I’m currently parked at the Guilty By Association Truck Show in Joplin, MO. Gonna be here until Sunday.

Had the metal polishers give it the “works” on the tanks and the wheels. Both tanks and steps were basically mill finish when they started and the wheels had a poor amateur polish job I did several years ago. It took them over 5 hours of sanding and polishing but it fits in well in the front row of show trucks now. For anyone wondering, this was a $900 job to get everything sanded and polished.

I replaced the tail lights on my utility trailer about a month ago. A few days ago I backed into the front yard oak tree unloading dirt. Oopsie. 🦄

New lights came in today, must install tomorrow so I can pickup a box blade for the new tractor Friday evening.

Finally pulled ABS codes from a 2nd Gen Ram with my old Modis I picked up for a couple hundred bucks.

I was beginning to think ABS codes were like unicorns on these trucks, but they do exist!

1997 GMC Sonoma
Replaced front brake rotors, pads, calipers and hoses, repacked front wheel bearings, replaced idler arm, changed oil

2003 Silverado 1500 5.3L/4L60E.
Complaint of intermittent No Crank/No Start, Drove the truck the last 3 days before it acted up this mourning, Class 2 Serial Data Network down, Found 12VDC on the network.
Removed the plug out of the Class 2 Splice Pack, First terminal I checked had 12VDC.....Chose the Radio as it has a aftermarket head unit & interface for Chime & RAP functions & sure enough the interface was the culprit.

I finished up testing a power washer pump I rebuilt. New pistons, seals, etc. I ran it for about 2 hours and no water mixed in with the oil, the machine worked well. I'm calling it done.
