What are you working on today?

2007 Saturn Ion transmission not shifting. Also has a PO300 for over a year. Vehicle has 354k miles and was told transmission was bad. As I test driving I noticed speedometer was dropping to 0 and transmission was dropping out of gear. I wiggled wires and transmission shifted perfect and fluid is perfect. Opened up harnesses and found a can of worms. Ordered another speed sensor connector and will solder all the open wires to the coils as a wiring harness is not available. Shop would have put transmission in and not fixed it if she would approve if I had a guess.

Diagnosed a 2013 Ram 1500 V6 with a bad fuel pump driver module. Ordered a new one locally, should have it by Friday. I'll also probably be replacing the thermostat for a PO128 thermostat rationality code, on Friday.

Hauled some waste oil to the local O'Reilly's for recycling. Ran both my generators for half an hour each. Went to the gym.

What in the world?

I did all differentials, transfer cases, manual gearbox fluid, and oil, air, and cabin filters on the BMW.
In the process of doing it, I found one coolant hose sweating a bit. I replaced all hoses at 105,000mls. Some of those that are hard to access are BMW, while others are easily accessible, such as Rein. This one is Rein, and I think it would probably be better if I just went all BMW hoses. I might also preventively replace a radiator on BMW, considering I am about to hit 150,000 in a few days.

Next, Toyota needs all differential fluids, transfer cases, transmission, and Tiguan.

My daughter received a snowblower(Craftsman/MTD 24" w/170cc B&S) for free and it looks brand new...Really!
However the PO left the gas in it for too long and I can't get it started.
I'll drain the gas, remove the float bowl, clean the main jet and go from there.

I might have a look at this before the holiday festivities. My nephew started his 2000 Impala and heard a bang, popped the hood to a few flames which went out quickly and noticed this mess. @Trav and I had a discussion about the possible cause, he shared his expertise.

Check for fuel dilution, too. Some of those B&S carbs are REALLY good at filling the crankcase with gas.

This 2nd Gen Ram 2500 was running the latest full metallic pad formulation

It seems the caliper piston (and presumably hose) are fine. But I had to use my air hammer to drive the slider pins out. These have the pin ride in a full length rubber condom which isn't great. The 1/2 tons used two, separate, square-cut rubber o-rings with space between for brake lube.

You never seen such a mess? Most shops would push it out the door and tell customers to call junk yard. She just had me replace struts, axle, inner tie rod and brakes all the way around a couple of months ago.
That looks like rodent damage to me. And/or possibly melted insulation from a short circuit. Your second photo appears to show heat shrink tubing, perhaps from a previous repair attempt.

Cut into our tubeline and fed the first rye bale of the winter this morning. Cows are very happy. Sorted, worked and moved some calves yesterday plus ran a medical call. Guy fell off his horse and broke his hip out in a field. Glad he had a phone with him or the outcome likely wouldn’t have been good. Back to work tomorrow.

Not rodent damage but 17 year old GM wiring. There are some insulation melts however most is just deteriorating wire.

Front brakes '98 Ram 2500 4x4. This one has 4WABS which is not common.

Once it was completely torn down (and the ABS wire only makes it more difficult),

it occurred to me this truck has always had ABS and BRAKE lights and I just figured the ABS module was cooked (common). I finally figured to pull ABS codes with my ancient Modis and sure enough the codes are only for the LF WSS.

O'Reilly wants $114 for a WSS which is stupid. I can get it much cheaper on RA but can't really wait more than a day.

In desperation I poked through a couple of WSSs I had hoarded from a GMT800. Sure enough the magnetic pickup is identical.

So, I decided to graft the GMT800 pickup onto the Dodge wire and plug. Both had a black and brown wire so I just matched 'em up. I elected to use heat shrink butt connectors

And once shrunk covered the hole shebang with more heat shrink.

I haven't driven the vehicle yet but I get ~1 ohm resistance across the terminals where as I had zero continuity before

I cranked out a few aluminum trees on the lathe yesterday and dropped them at the neighbors'. This morning the wife called me ecstatic and insisted on sending a picture of how she displayed them.

'Tis better to give than to receive.... (lower center left - the color is just Dykem)

Replaced the windshield washer hose (68275595AC) on the Durango this morning, plastic line broke near the hood hinge. By design its flexibility is there for the hood to be opened/closed, this lasted six years then snapped due to becoming brittle. One piece design from the washer pump routed up along the fender area to the nozzles, local dealership had it in stock and guy was cooling giving me 20% off list being a repeat customer. $18.49 OTD and an hour of my labor removing air box and routing it correctly.

Went to hit the washer mist yesterday driving the wife's vehicle over to family Christmas dinner, no fluid but the motor was running. Check this morning a found the plastic hose broken:rolleyes:.
