A 2010 GM Vauxhall Insignia CDTI 2.0 diesel. The seal from the oil pick up pipe to oil pump has failed causing the low oil pressure warning 'Stop Driving' to come up on the info panel. 160k miles. The ECU then shuts the engine down a few seconds later. A quite scary experience if you are at any speed.
A common fault on the Fiat designed engine. The oil seal is a GM addition and allows the pump to draw air when it hardens. Hopefully the oil pump and bearing shells will be the only thing damaged, but I feel it may also need a crankshaft regrind.

Yes all cedar, the lowest cost heart cedar I could find. Oh except the PT posts. Cedar is easy to work BUT the dust is a real irritant and a mask must be worn when cutting, routing, sanding, vacuuming.
Cedar is all over Central Texas and an allergy menace. You finally get used to it after a few decades. Bugs really hate it though so its guaranteed to last. Amazing woodworking sir, you have talent!

I bought it maybe 25 years ago at a garage sale for my daughters to practice shooting with.
Gave it to my 6 year old to keep on her 6th birthday, that and a horse.

It was super hot tonight in the garage, only worked for about 45 minutes. I took various brackets off, labeled and bagged them. Then finally zipped off the trans bolts, lifted the corpse by only the cylinder head, then was able to gently pry the transmission off and let gravity do the rest. The torque converter stayed behind because the engine is locked tight. Going to let it pee overnight.

Tommorow my goal is to take off the cylinder head and see what is to see. The oil pan is already off and I didn’t see any obvious carnage. Maybe it will turn over now, will try it first thing.

Well, the AC on the Taurus needs profesional help. But "the compressor spins" (when manually commanded on.)

But.. a new possible problem. The nut on the bolt shown "has become loose?" And can't quite figure out how to re-tighten it, due to recess and angle.

no real choice except to take off the belt, that idler in the pic, then you will have plenty of room. that belt looks a bit rough, and the idler being rusty wont do the belt any favors.

I once helped a friend get the crank loose on a Toyota 2.4 so we could spin it around to remove the torque converter bolts. It had spun a #3 rod bearing. We thought we could just back off the main and rod bearing bolts and it would spin free.....that number 3 rod said otherwise. So we just removed the rod and main caps.....#3 rod said otherwise. Since there was no core on the motor the finally had to beat the crank free of the block with a hammer and pry bar, #3 rod in tow.

I've actually taken today and tomorrow off. I don't have the transmission back for the 88 Sierra and there's nothing else on my schedule, so I've done my exercises and drank coffee all morning. Looks like rain might settle in, may not be awake much longer.
