Bob, no problem with fans. I even understand those!

Its the COOLER (as in oil cooler, as in about the size of a couple of large phone books) on the front bumper. Not the fan 10 feet away that I was calling out.

I watched both the long and short versions, I'm not seeing it this time.

Bill.
You say 99.3 % of family and friends drive Fords. Well my daughter has 3 Chevys, 2 MBs and 1 Ford F350 all with M1. My sister has 1 Chevy truck, M1, and 1 Buick, Valvoline. I do have one friend that drives a 2000 Taurus and a 07 Chrysler van, M1, and another friend that drives a 03 Windstar, M1. Also I have a close friend with a 99 Chevy truck with nearly on 300K, M1. Now one son has a Ford Ranger with M1 in it(343K)M1 and another son with 2 Fords, 05 F150 and an 06 Expy, and he has the Ford dealer change his oil with MC synt. So Bill, your usual rant is full of half truths and speculations.
Point #3. You say I have a connection with XM. All posters here please note Bill has accused me of that before, and it is not true. No connection at all. PM me if you want to discuss that.

Bill is talking about the cooler mounted to the front bumper. He believes it is an engine oil cooler. He won't admit it could be a transmission cooler. The BMW test that Mobil did in the early 90s(can be found on XMs Austrialia web site) was for 1,000,000 miles not KMs. It also had a cooler on the front bumper as well.
These test only confirm my own experiance with this oil. Long lasting and clean engines. My experience is not fluff, but fact. Someboby else may have differant results.

The rest of the story.

Bottom of article. Of course the MARKETING people (like on Mobils web site) don't say a single thing about that.

Take care, Bill

Peter Gilbert's car

A 1989 Saab 900 SPG with 1,001,385 miles.

In 17 years the car used more than 600 quarts of synthetic Mobil 1 motor oil, which can travel significantly more miles between oil changes than regular oil.

In its time, the car burned two tanker-truck-loads of premium gasoline and averaged about 28 mpg.

It went through about 22 sets of tires, changed every 45,000 miles.

The transmission was replaced at about 200,000 miles, but the engine was largely untouched.

The engine head gasket was replaced three times because constant warming and cooling stretched it.

Bill was RIGHT, the info is here.

Looking through the vid, you'll see a readout with various parameters. I wonder if that "box" is where all the various sensors are plug into?

From a thread; (and to everyone reading, since Tig has for so many words called me out publicly I'm going to post why I say that here)

And here you are AGAIN.. It "could" be a transmission cooler. Where does Mobil explain in the "test" what it is? Don't you think if you are an honest straight forward company that you would DISCLOSE what additional NON STOCK equipment was attached onto the vehicle. Esp for company who prides themselves with presenting the "Facts" for all of us to see.

So since Mobil does not even say anything about the LARGE cooler (which "if" it is a transmission cooler that DOES affect the motor oil) lets just forget about it.

Need to know basis huh...

What happened in the early 90s has NOTHING to do with today my friend. Esp if from a marketing department from any company.

Never mind the facts left out.

Never mind some important facts that the average person would take that he used product a, drove 1 million miles and other than the transmission problem the engine never had a single problem.

All I am saying is if you are going to tell a story, tell the WHOLE story. In a engine, taking it apart THREE TIMES is a big part of the story left out. And it would not matter to me WHO made the engine or the OIL used.

I have no bias except for facts being LEFT OUT.

The *fact* remains the same: he made a million mile run on that sludger. If you want to look for cracks you will find them in everything. I correspond with him, he is not an oil nerd like a lot of us here are. He does not understand the 'unnecessary' details. He used Mobil 1 for 6 to 7 thousand miles per ODI max. On his new car he switched to a European oil due to several factors. Firstly, his new Saab has power density that exceeds his old one: it's a turbo Viggen unless my Alzheimer fails me. Secondly he does not believe in SM oils at all. He uses Elf, Motul and last time we corresponded he bought Lubro Moly for it. We discussed alternatives, I suggested a few and brought up a few parameters. For whatever reason he does not trust Amsoil, Red Line, Mobil 1 SL, Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck, Mobil 1 0W40 any more.
It will take the whole population of Utah to convey the whole notion of conventional oil to him. You can try. His email address is on the web. Besides the motor oil he is paranoid about many other things in regards to maintenance. Rightfully so.

Okay he is not a oil nerd but then you explain EXACTLY what oil nerds here talk about.

I don't need to convey the notion to this person who is not a nerd but does not want to have anyone convey conventional.

I'm confused about him. And no I could care less about him. I've typed too many times my problems with tests and more marketing.
