ok so on my 93 f150 i replaced the rear fuel pump due to it not running correctly and dumping gas from the front tank to the rear. well now its doing it in reverse. rear tank to front. it runs fine on both tanks though its pretty quick about 3 gallons per 8 miles. it also on the front tank (haven't tried the rear yet) since replacing the rear fuel pump ive noticed if it hasn't been started in awhile and i just jump in and crank it it'll crank for 6-7 seconds and even hit once or twice before it actually starts. anyone make sense of this? can a check valve cause all of the above symptoms? thanks guys.

Electronic tank switching unit is faulty?
You could do a leak down test or air check the valves. It sounds like the vavle in the pump is definately bad, but the return valve could be bad also. You would have to air check the return valve. If the return valve checks ok you could install an inline check valve if you can find one. It is probably just a matter of time before the return valve starts leaking if it isn't already.
It seems like these dual tank systems always gave problems. I remember my father having problems with his a lot ... eventually it got to the point that he'd have to swich to one tank, use that to pump into the first tank and then keep going on that.

This. My F-250 was single thank, and I'm thankful it was.

Check the Ford truck forums, there are several discussions on this problem, which varies depending on the year of the vehicle.
My guess is that the front tank check valve is also bad. Which requires replacing the fdm. Or I could fill both up when I want to and just use front tank first then rear and then front again. Or just only use the front tank.
