fuel pump problem

HI GUYS im having a problem with my 90 ford e150 conversion van just yesterday i started hearing a humming sound from the front fuel pump this van has dual tanks it still ran fine till today now it just cuts out if u give it gas but it will idle if i switch to rear tank it runs fine could this be a bad pump because i know it supposidley has 2 fuel pumps .

if your fuel pump is humming more than likely it will go sooner rather than later. You can get a new fuel filter installed and buy you a little but your fuel pump will need to replaced. This is from my unfortuant experance.

I'll second Dave's diagnosis. This is what happened to me before my fuel pump failed. It's also why I like to change fuel filters about 3 times as often as recommended. The "blow" test with the old filter compared to the new one always indicates a filter that flows significantly worse than a new one.
