Linde is a quality brand. Google comes up with nothing on that model. That's not a good sign. The thing that is very important is being able to get consumables for the gun. If it's an older model and has a proprietary gun, that may be a problem. If it has a Tweco or Bernard gun, you may be OK.
The Linclon Power MIG 180C is available new for ~$750 online or from ebay, including shipping. I'm a Miller guy too, but the Linclon is an excellent, pro level welder, and probably the best value out there at that price. A Miller 180 is about $50-$100 more. A new 211 is right at $1000.

Don't get hung up on power or the metal thickness. The specs are for single pass. The actual welding thickness is unlimited using multi-pass techniques. Anything over 3/16" you should be doing joint prep and multiple pass anyway. A 180A, 230V welder will do anything you will likely ever want to do.
