Weird problem with A/C

Ouch! There's no moving parts in the accumulator to go bad so I guess it was leaking? So, is their diagnosis that it was low on freon, leaking from the accumulator?

That just doesn't make sense. So the system was close to overcharged, so no leak... So the accumulator was diagnosed as the culprit? The tech's reply seem's to not address the question- red flag!

Lets assume the accumulator was the faulty component. It would fail in one of two ways. Either it would spring a leak, in which case the freon charge would be low or completely empty. But, that wasnt the case. OR- it somehow developed a blockage which would cause the high side pressure to rise really high and the suction side would draw way down or maybe even vacuum.

I'm not questioning your decision to allow to dealer to do the work, I'm sure it's hot as [censored] in TX, and I'm glad you've got your A/C back!

But, as someone that knows a thing or two about A/C's, some sort of detail seems to be missing here.

Not a big deal. The important thing is you've got your air back. It's just inquiring minds(or maybe just one mind, lol) are trying to figure this one out.

Thanks for reporting back! Seems what often happens is someone posts a problem they're having, many people give input, then you never hear from the OP as to what the resolution was...

OK HERE IT IS... The accumulator contained humidity and moisture, and somehow the pressure was spiking on the high side from 60 to 350!!! Other than that they found nothing wrong. There was a short hose that was R/R and the obligatory gaskets and rings. Picked the truck up and the AC problem is fixed. Although I must report its not quite as cold as I remember it, perhaps time makes the memory grow fonder... I will however take a temp reading this afternoon when I get home along with a pressure reading. All of my readings were taken with the compressor on and at idle--for the correct pressure. Thankfully warr. took care of cost, otherwise 1k for the fix...
