Weird off brand cars.

Anyone here see an episode of "Grace". He's an English homicide detective in Brighton.
He drives an Alfa-Romero. An 'everyman', tortured cop character (his wife was murdered) looks odd in a specialty sports/luxury car.

Also, wasn't Opel a GM brand from Germany?

YEP.. Opel, was basically GM Europe, with Vauxhall, and Holden to an extent, being RHD badge engineered versions for a time. they also built a lot of Buicks and later Saturns Sold in the US...Until GM sold the whole enchilada to Puegot( Well PSA Groupe) in....2017... then PSA merged with FCA (Fiat Chrysler) in 2021.

yeah... but over there, it's the equivalent (not exactly, bit of a stretch, but it gets the point across) of an "every-man, Tortured Cop" Driving a Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger... and they have a tendency to Go wrong... and get rather Cheap after few Model years...
Probably more likely in a BMW...but an Alfa wouldn't be unheard of.... ( Not much Different than Jim Rockford's Camaro..)

probably a Better American equivalency would be a Corvette...

Yup, and Vauxhall was a UK equivalent and producer of one of my all time favs:

They break down and get towed possibly further distances is all. If you have a Tesla in NH, VT, ME you towed to MA with four service centers.

With an Alpha you guessing you could find a shop to work on it.

There is one in my neighbourhood. I like you was shocked. Looked it up - it wasn't as expensive as I would have thought - like $45K. And owned by Stellanis AKA Fiat Chrysler or whomever they call themselves today. No I wouldn't own one. I presume people that want to be "seen" buy them. I prefer to be gray man.

What is a gray man?

Parts are so inbred if you need something like a power window motor you can probably get one, and it'll be for a dodge caliber and that Alfa, LOL. Remember the Jaaaaag that was just a Ford Contour?

But you'll still need the dealer scantool to reset the up & down stops on said window once you put it together.

Just thinking out loud.

I used to think bmw,jag and Benz were odd. Today I am working on an Alfa Romeo. Honestly I had no clue that brand was still a thing.

Do people wake up and say that they are going to go buy an Alfa Romeo today? I don't even know where I would buy a new one. I guess there may be a dealer in Beverly hills lol.

What happens when a weird off brand cars breaks down in road narrows Montana? No AutoZone is going to have parts for it. You end up in a Kia rental for weeks waiting on parts?

Then no shops want to work on it so you end up at a very expensive specialty shop or a stealer if you can find one.

Seriously I didn't know alfa Romeo was still in business.
Bend over, its going to get expensive.

I test drove a GiulIa and liked it a lot. The problem for me was they don't offer a version that slots in between the base Giulia and the Quadrifoglio- a model that competes with the C43, M340i, and S4. Something that runs the quarter in the mid twelves and has a bit more aggressive suspension tuning.
Oh well, for over two decades it's been either German or Jeeps for me so I'll probably not stray to far from that strategy- although I'll note the 4xe shares its IC engine with the Giulia.
