So I just finished my first coolant change on my 04' ARC and something unexpected happened. It might be nothing , but I just thought I should look into it. I was following the directions in my haynes manual and I started by removing the cap to the reservoir, and then it told me to drain from both of the peacock valves at the water pump and the radiator. I started by draining from the water pump and about one full jug of coolant came out. I then went on to the drain on the bottom of the rad. I cracked open the drain and nothing came out ? I thought there would still be fluid left at the bottom of the radiator? Am I wrong is assuming that? Anyway I filled up the reservoir with about what I took out and left the peacock drain open at the rad and still nothing came out during refilling. I then let it idle with the heater on high, followed by driving around the block and the temp gauge went up to the half way mark and stayed there. What do you guys think? Is something blocking my peacock valve?

Usually when you drain the water pump, anything in the radiator comes out. Then again, you said you tried after the system was "full" again and had the same result - which is a little concerning. Try to get a hold of the factory service manual and see what their instructions are.

Well its getting a little late where I am, but I'm definitely going to try figuring this out tomorrow.

Maybe a bad drain valve on the radiator....pull the lower hose and see if any coolant drains. That will be the fast test.

I'm hoping its just that, but if there is dirt or scale blocking the drain well that ins't good either. The bottom hose is kind of blocked by a bracket so its going to be a pita for sure.
