I have an 04 Subaru WRX STi. Whenever I go really slow (close to stall slow), usually in a parking lot, if I depress the clutch, it makes a metal clunk sound. If I go just a tad bit faster (4-5mph), it's gone. I think it might be the throwout bearing, however, being that this is my first MT car, I am unsure if that's a normal sound.

What do you guys think?

I think you should stop doing that and drive the car as if it were stolen. Tell me then what kind of noises it makes!

I think it's just the sound of the gears releasing from the force being applied because of the slow speed...Just my thought...

Thanks for the reply guys.

Sewerman, I think you might be onto something. Why would the sound only appear at slow speeds? If I speed up just a hair, the sound is complete gone.

Hunter: Come to think of it, my car does make a weird sound when I "drive like I stole it." At high speeds, my engine makes this odd rumble... oh wait, that's just the unique sound of the 2.5L horizontally opposed boxer engine
