Hey everyone i am in the mood where i need to get outta town for the weekend. Me and my 2 kids and wife of course. We live 1 hour from saint louis and do not mind driving a bit. Road trips are fun. Where would a place in the midwest be that youd spend a weekend on the cheap? Prefer to see some pretty sights ect. Do not need attractions and stuff just a nice area/state Park ect.

My first thought would be Texas somewhere, but that is a WAG.

Lexington, OH. The NASCAR XFinity series is at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car course on Saturday.
Nothing exciting to see here in Iowa and Nebraska! How about Kansas City?
with all the bad luck that you have been having lately, you could use a break.
maybe a fellow bitoger would accommodate you. heck, you could even go and visit pop for a couple of days. I'm sure that would be a fun weekend.i can't think of any others from the Midwest off hand.

I'd head north, the heat in TX is brutal right now with much of the state being in the upper 90s to 100s.
Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis going on right now. Not my thing but if it's yours go for it.
Historic Madison, Indiana. A friendly historic town right on the Ohio river. It only and hour drive to Louisville, KY to the southwest, and an hour drive to Cincinnati,OH to the north east. Its a nice place to spend a weekend if you like early 1800's style towns. The modern part of the town which rests above the Rivers valley offers all your normal restaurants and shopping as well should you need anything.
Also, Clifty falls state park is located in Madison. There are a lot of cool waterfalls and trails to hike. Southern Indiana is hilly like Kentucky and the park is beautiful this time of year.

take the kids to the caves, butterfly museum, take the historic trains, skip the touristy attractions (too many people)

Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri's state fairs are going on right now. Indiana is quite the fair for the kiddo's. Have been to Ohio, Indiana, Missouri this weekend and maybe Iowa's next weekend.

you are younger than him,
you and wife have good jobs/career paths
...and she's like minded (all the highly active life)
you have a nice/bright/healthy kid
you do very interesting stuff at work
you probably did give many US educated/born peoples some pretty good paying jobs
all cars/vehicles are paid off
your home has "character" (the one appreciated by professional/carpenters people like clevy, overkill, myself and many others....)
and you are on the way to a good/debt-free life for you/wife and probably a very good start for the kid(future kids)
so....
what do you need to prove him???
