I recently after research bought a Weaver scope base, 620/48400 that said it had the correct screws for my 2024 Savage Axis. Despite the info I was provided the 8/40 screws are too big and I need the 6/48.Where can I get the 4 screws needed or should I send the part back?

I advised against the Axis, so I have no more advice to give.

Good luck on this one.

I would send it back. You could get the 6-48's from Brownells but the screw heads will be smaller and might not have the correct angle if they are using countersunk and have slop if they are flats. That said I would recheck the size because my Savage uses 8-40"s for the base mount, 6-48 seems small.
I just looked and see that Savage did switch screw sizes on some models, I would still send the mount back and get the correct one drilled for the 6-48 screws and the proper hardware.

I tried to make what I bought work but the screws provided are just too big for my 2024 rifle. I emailed Weaver and will follow up when they are open.

Switch plate screws from the house switch plate seem the correct size but threading is not!

Gun screws always seem to be Extra Fine thread. Most of what you will find in a hardware store will be 8-32 or 6-40. I bought a gun screw assortment pack from Brownels several years ago, it has different head designs and lengths in the most common scope ring and mount sizes. It has saved me a few times when a screw gets lost or buggered up.
