Weather reporting has jumped the shark

Not sure I get the whale comment.
They are warm-blooded mammals like those Londoners that heat up their living space.
At any rate, it seems like you are out on a frequent basis, driving all up and down the coast. Me too, road trips are one of my favorite things to do.

Maybe we shouldn't be doing that....?
I'm not going to stop driving up and down the coast. ;)

Back in my day when I was venturing out on my bicycles as a 10 to 13 year old, Wedgewood and the entire area was grassland with shanty town chicken farms where Monte Sereno is now.

I may not live there anymore but I'll always have a spot in my heart for Los Gatos.

I'm not allowed in Monte Sereno. That's where the rich people live.

Lots and lots of money there. Mansions by the dozens. But I'll take Los Gatos ANY DAY!

Edit: We lived in the Belwood neighborhood before leaving the area. We even had own our private neighborhood swim club. Lots of good times in those days.

Edit 2: Up and over Hicks Road via Old Almaden was my after work, before dinner bike ride back then. Hicks Road was WORK! I broke 50 mph once, racing down past the dam towards Camden Ave. To this day the thought of doing that on that road makes me cringe. Hicks was narrow and twisty, but my appendages were much bigger back then.

I think we were warned last year that we are going to have a hor summer and further risks of forest fires. I wonder how many climate changes we need because we have had a cool summer with plenty of precipitation. I signed up for global warming years ago but am still waiting....

All media is pushing an agenda. Anything that is outside the norm strengthens the case for man made climate change. I only use my phone app or weather underground for the forecast.
But in doing so, and in being so appallingly obvious with it, they've absolutely torpedoed their credibility. So, what good is an agenda if nobody takes you seriously?

Does anyone remember this nonsense? The Weather Channel is one of the worst offenders when it comes to over-exaggerating the situation.
The BS excuse the weather channel gives for this is almost as bad as the over-acting by this clown. I mean seriously? if it's the wet ground causing the problem, move over 2 feet to the pavement.

It's not that simple. We all know that large cities have warmer temps because of building and population density. Given that, is it fair to compare temps of a modern big city when that 112 year old record was set when the city was comprised of a bunch of single story wooden shacks?

The trends we see today are rife with inconsistencies, especially when we're talking a degree or two.

Most of those locations are way out of spec for a 'official' weather reporting station too. Too close to hard surfaces usually.

American checking in, no clue what those numbers mean. It was 96 degrees here yesterday.
We (Canada) went over to SI in the 1970s. I learned to convert the "new" temperatures (C to F), like this:

Multiply the C temperature x 2, subtract 10%, and add 32.

E.g. What's 12 C in F?

12 x 2 = 24

24 - 2.4 = 21.6

21.6 + 32 = 53.6 (round up to 54).

On the negative side (i.e. below 0 C), switch the signs accordingly:

E.g. What's -24 C in F?

-24 x 2 = -48

-48 + 4.8 = -43.2

-43.2 + 32 = -11.2
