That's my opinion anyway... I made that suggestion to my doctor during one of my annual exam visits; he laughed as if I said something that was totally preposterous. I don't think it's out of the question; all we need is a few treadmills, a couple of stationary bikes, and some free weights. They're always spending money on construction projects anyway. Every time I go there, there's some kind of remodeling project going on. Why can't they take one of the vacant rooms and make a gym out of it?

Not sure why yours does not have one. It is mandatory for any type of cardiac rehab/physical therapy. Hmmm...strange

So you feel you need a gym built for you on the taxpayer dime? Why not go walking or running outdoors rather than a treadmill? Why not purchase a real bike and ride it rather than a stationary bike? Free weights are cheap-why not purchase a few and workout at home in the evening?

Keeping yourself fit is your responsibility, not the responsibility of hard working taxpayers.

I agree a gym would be nice. The VA hospital I go to has one with a complete rehab/physical therapy center.

My problem is I'm not going to drive the 60 miles one way just to go to the gym and I doubt they'd give me travel allowance for it either.

Odd comment, being as I doubt you know all about his financial position.

They have to spend the money anyway. They get a certain amount allotted to them every year and if they don't spend
it all, they get less the next year. And besides, your tax dollars going to United States Veterans is money well spent.
