WD40 has a newer lineup of products and one actually works very well.

I picked this up after comparing the offerings on the store shelf.

It sprays just like WD40 but when it "drys" it leaves a light, thin, coating of soft lithium grease.

I hit the auto garage door rollers, springs, and hinges and I was REALLY impressed with the performance. The door is so silent now. I also hit the all the car's hinges. The 2002 Grand Marquis really benefited from it. The "squeaks" are gone while opening the hood and doors.

I think I'm going to buzz the whole can this week, going around the house "fixing" things. Lol!

I was in Lowe's yesterday and noticed that they also now have a silicone spray in this same product line.

I wonder, in what situation would you use silicone instead of regular WD-40? What advantages over a petroleum would silicone provide?

I use silicon spray occasionally on my avalanche bed cover seals.

Petroleum based lubes may not be the best to put on wood (drawers, etc) or on rubber seals as they can cause rubber to swell and ultimately disintegrate. Even with silicone sprays, you should try the styrofoam cup test before applying to rubber or plastic. Spray the cup. If it shrivels rapidly under the spray, it has some aggrssive solvents in it.

I use the same stuff, but the liquid wrench version. Seems to work well, though I'm considering switching to Kano products for all my needs.
