WD-40 Mixed into Motor Oil

I often use a quick WD40 spray under the hood of neglected engines, makes everything look much better and helps with all the corroded parts under hood. Its totally harmless and has so many uses!

The fact is that he wouldn't have sprayed it directly into the filler hole, so all you would have got was an over-spray mist that wouldn't amount to more than a few drops of actual liquid.

It won't have any significant effect on your oil. And in any case it will vaporize and be drawn off though the crankcase ventilation system the first time the engine is hot.

Remember that your oil is always being "naturally" contaminated by gasoline, water and acids from the blow-by process every time you drive it. You don't have to get too precious about it.

Isn't WD-40 harmful to rubber and plastic parts? It makes them brittle in the long run or something. I'd just leave my engine looking as is. That's what the hood is for.

I have a hard time believing that there could be any possible negative to such a tiny amount. I doubt that even if he had emptied the entire can directly into the 710 hole there could be any issue...it's what...1 pint? In a BMW sump that holds 6-7 quarts?
