Waxing a black car.

JBM, you're right, I'd probably be better off sticking with the 26 since it's $40 less per application and I will just get it applied more often. 3 coats of 21 would be $297 but I can get 5 coats of 26 for $295.

I use S-100 paste wax that is sold at Harley dealers. This wax goes on thin and does not leave white streaks if you get in on the trim. I have a 05 Mustang GT that is black and that is the only wax I have ever used on this car. The one thing about a black car is that when you wash and dry the car, I always wax it right afterwards. The more wax, the better. Once a year I strip the wax off the car with Dawn dishwashings soap and start all over again. Nothing looks better than a black vehicle when it's all done, but it is a labor of love. Do not ever run the car through the carwash. You will regret it! Go to Autopia.com for more information.

Hey Fatboymoe, you might want to look into Optimum Car Wax, it would be right up your ally for after washes.

Thanks JBM, I will look into it. The one thing I like about the S-100 is that it goes on and comes off very easy, and looks great. The only drawback is that it does not last very long. My Mustang is a garage queen that only gets out when the weather is nice and I have the energy to detail the car when I am done driving it!

There are alot of easier way to get a just waxed look without actually waxing it everytime.

There are some spray products hitting the botique market right now that are performing very well. Optimum has been out for a while and does a good job too.

I use Zaino;s Z8 after every wash, and it looks like i spent all day on it.

Use Zainos was with accelerator followed by the spray. Wax twice a year and use the spray after wash. Easy on and off. My wife's black Explorer is awesome...no swirls.

Get a micro-cloth. You should get a few beers in a cooler and 3 of your favorite CD's, Head for some shade. Take your time. Black cars require patience. Dont forget to open the doors and do the door jambs. Nothing worse that a Black car that looks perfect...with dirty jambs. I even do the trunk and under hood areas...But then again Im CRAZY like that. I need 6 CD's to finish my ride.I use Malco products. Teflon Seal and Auto Glym Polish. (used by Rolls Royce)The stuff you buy in stores promise too much for so little. Get yourself some Auto Glym! Beyond the basic wax!
It will really stick to the car and your hands. I use it every 6 months. Its the real thing, not like those 5% carnuba waxes. Also, I use a wash n wax car soap. This helps boost the shine and wont was off my protection. Never use dish or hand soap on any painted surface. Get Busy! Enjoy the pain of perfection!

6 CD-s makes 6 hours. Unfortunately, I don't have that much patience. Especially if I know that within a day or two the car is gonna look dirty anyway.

I second the Black Velvet from Top Of The Line for darker cars. It reminds me of S-1oo for ease of use both on and off and it last a long time on a daily driver.

Hey HammerDown, I've tried Meguire's swirl remover (M82) with my black car but don't have a buffer and don't get the results I'm looking for.
M21 works for you?
