so I noticed tonight my Saturn right after shutting it off make a faint booking water water rushing noise. I did the thermostat a couple weeks ago and changed out the coolant I assume itsbjust got an air bubble trapped. Question I have is , is that a good possibility? And how would you guys go about getting it out?

there are many ways but the easiest to me is to borrow a cooling system tester make sure its full of anti freeze put the tester on it pump it up to about 15-20 lbs check for leaks, if it holds bleed it, pump it up again let it set for a few minutes and bleed it again all done some cars are very hard to bleed like 3.5 dodges 2.4 quad 4's this works best for me and no come backs sometimes a air pocket will stay hidden for a week or so then all of a sudden it will overheat espically if it isnt driven far .

On my Saturn I just bring car up to temp with cap off until fan comes on. Top off if needed. There are a lot of write ups at Saturnfans on proper procedure.

One "fix" I did for some stubborn air bubble in one of my saturns was I disconnected the skinny little hose at the top of the surge tank and warmed the car up until hot coolant sprayed out this hose.

Somehow this did the trick when by design it should have worked automatically: these cars are pretty good at self purging air.

That was one of the early warning signs that my head gasket went on my Neon, I'd check your fluids and pull the plugs to see if coolant is going places it shouldn't just to be safe...

yes, it is an air bubble in the coolant system and is trapped in the heater core which is in the glove box area and the highest point in the system. had the same thing happen to my nissan altima, would always get that sound driving down my hill in the morning.
after the car cools open the radiator cap and top off the radiator. Make sure the coolant overflow bottle is filled, connected to the radiator and the radiator cap is good. keep checking and after a couple days will work itself out.
some cars, like my altima, advise using a vacuum tool when servicing the cooling system to remove air. But i think if you really have problems, park the car facing upwards on a steep hill when hot and fast idle for a couple minutes, that will get the radiator as highest point and heater core much lower and help get the air to the radiator neck.

Is the heater core valved by a gate in the water line?
[many just use a door that blocks air flow]
If so, make sure the heat is on until you get the air out.

wow...total fail at no radiator cap???

Yes, make sure the heater core is being allowed to flow(vent to the hot setting, but keep the blowers off...no need).

I just burped the old Civic. Got a UOA on the road, worried of internal coolant leak. Best 'worst case' would be water pump gasket is leaking. It happened on the first road trip I took the Civic on. About 1,750 miles or so round trip.

The destination...okay coolant level was down some but still visible at the radiator cap. Added some to the radiator and some to the overflow tank. Total fail man...had to bleed it properly once home with my spill-free funnel kit. It let out 2 or 3 large 'gulps'.

The problem is I also appear to have a leak, probably the water pump seal losing coolant at the weep hole. Such a pain as the timing belt job was done just 20,000 miles ago...

Will be removing the VCG and inspecting things down the timing belt area with the upper cover also removed. Hopefully, all you have is air trapped. Great suggestions to park with the radiator above the rest of the cooling system, flipping the climate controls over to hot (no blower needs to be running) and seeing if that will help it self-purge.
