Washing car too much?

Once a week I do it myself at the $1.00 car wash near my house. I spray the wheels and tires, rinse the whole car, wipe it with a clean sheepskin mitt, rinse again, then spot free rinse. That runs about $1.50. Then I dry the wheels, spray wax the entire car as I dry it, doll up the tires w/ 303 or Meguiar's, and I'm done.

I haven't let anybody else wash my cars in years.

I used to live in Cincinnati and loved Mike's. Where is there one now in NKY? When I lived in NKY I used Johnny's for a while, then Classic in Florence....neither were close to Mike's.



They just built it within the last year at the end of mall road in the center of Florence. I hope it works as good as it does now when it ages. Always seems to do a very good job and I like the underbody wash too.

You sure they don't recycle the water?

Yikes, that you don't rinse out the mitt after a few passes with it.

I guess it depends on your goal: If you turn in a car after a lease, I guess I don't see anything wrong with it. Your car looks presentable all the time if a little swirled up, but that's really par for the course.

If your intention is to keep the car indefinitely, no way would I do that. I'd go to the coin-operated car wash and wash out the undercarriage with plain water on a weekly basis. I might even squirt the outside some to knock the dirt off. I'm using the "Salt Away" product on a wand sprayer a couple of times per winter. Not likely to hurt. A good sealant will protect the outside of your car for four months or so, so you have, or had, an opportunity to get things squared away for the winter.

I definitely wouldn't do that simply because you are frustrated with the appearance of your car during a hard winter.

I have unlimited car washes from Dec 1 to March 31 and this will be my 3rd year. It cost $25 a month. I get 15 washes a months, one every second day. It's a brush less wash. I'm happy with it and will continue it in the future.

Not sure what you mean. I rinse it, sure, in the water from the spray wand.
