Have a safe trip and drink lots of coffee to stay warm and awake on that long haul. In your line of work (hauling cargo) are you competing against FedEx and UPS or not really ?

I like cold temps, thankfully we don't get snow or ice down here.

In '08 I got a new E 150 work van. It just turned 82k mile and that includes being laid up for nearly 4 months in that time

Possibly, yes and no at the same time. A lot of guys I know, actually, run as subs for FedEx.
On the coffee: coffee withdrawal headaches, tachicardia and many other are waiting for you... Getting out of the vehicle, running a couple of circles around it like a clown will get some oxygen in your brain. Soda may have more caffeine than coffee, tea has certainly more caffeine, caffeine-free coffee still has 10-15% of the drug, and given the bucket sizes people use - not good in the longer run.
Mileage: I run ~100 Megameters annually in town car service, so he should run even more.
CDL class C is probably required for his application.

Transportation business can be fun though..

Same here in San Antonio. I love living in Texas. You guys up north can have the cold weather all to yourself.
