Their diesel specific filters seem to be immune from any tearing problems

I am definitely here to tell you that the "cali lean" does not exist here in "cali" unless you are a real douche. carry on...

Pick up a couple of those Rotella filters the next time you are in WalMart--I believe they're heavier than equivalent Purolators. Could just be the cans are tougher--Purolators always seemed to have thinner cans than some others. I suppose the thickness of the material doesn't really matter unless your filter hangs down where it might be prone to damage, though during a tricky removal I have managed to damage the can enough for it to leak oil everywhere.

That's been around here for at least 3 of 4 years. I think they call it "bulldogging or bullydogging", some B S like that. I just call it stupid. If I had a teen aged son who thought he was going to do that to his (my) truck, he'd be thinking wrong.

Unfortunately for my application in the 6.7 ford they are 22$ a piece I just can't bring myself to spend that much on a Puro filter when I have 3 baldwin made cq in line already

Yeah, some of those Rotellas are pretty pricey. Aren't the Baldwins and the Rotellas both made by the same company that owns Purolator? Doesn't mean that one isn't different than another, just wondering. The photos I've seen of cut-open Baldwins didn't look all that special.

The rotella is typical Puro build from what I have seen the car quest/ baldwin is wire backed syn media and Clarcor the parent company of baldwin hastings casite federated filters dosent have any affiliation with Puro you can definitely tell when you look at build quality
