Walmart not wanting to deliver?

Other sellers sale through Amazon and Walmart websites. Many of these sellers set their own shipping independent of the respective online storefront. I.e. the 3rd party items never count toward, or qualify for free shipping.

And.. flip side, this, from "TXN Supply" and bought and fulfilled on Walmart.com ... Free shipping.

How much money are they making off these 3rd parties? Seems like there disparaging their own brand to make a few percentage points on a different sale, not to mention competing with themselves.
It costs Walmart nothing to allow 3rd-party sellers to use their site but the problem is it can impact WM's reputation (or Amazon or Home Depot, etc, etc) when there's issues. The customer just thinks "I bought it from walmart.com". They definitely get a cut of the sale and the seller loves the add'l exposure to customers they get, not to mention they don't have to build their own e-commerce website.

Personally, I try and avoid 3rd-party sellers unless there's no reasonable alternative. One benefit is you (the customer) will have Amazon, Walmart, etc on your side if there's an issue. If you have an issue, need to return it, etc, you just click, click, click and get a return label.

I have a strong preference for brick & mortar retailers that allow you to touch, feel, smell and try on if available. Fine for more general stuff like oil to buy online and chase the lowest price (including shipping). But sadly, today more than ever I am referred to the retailer's online store when trying to purchase a specific item at the retailer. Seems like their stock is low or nonexistent for so many items you would expect to find at formally specialist stores. In reality they are competing with themselves while not leveraging their competitive advantage as a brick & mortar outlet. Result is you are seeing more and more outlets closing. This phenonium was widely predicted when online retailing exploded. We are now seeing the accumulated results. Agree prices may be better, but at the expense of the shopper's time and inconvenience incurred to make a return due to the lack of accessibility at the point of purchase. The jury is out as to whether we will ultimately see too few options.

Interesting Kohl's accepts Amazon returns. An interesting business model to attract walk in business!

What is up with Walmart delivery lately?
I read that WM wants to compete with Amazon and use their network of stores as delivery warehouses.
I have had success buying oil and a few other thing, free delivery with a $35 order.

The last 2 times I loaded my cart, the system would not give me free delivery even though my order was well over the $35. The website wanted to set up “pick up in store” and when I tried to change to deliver from store, added $9.95 delivery fee.
Heck, if I wanted to pick up in store, I would drive to the store and get the stuff.
Not going to compete with Amazon like this.
Maybe they are trying to sell the Walmart Plus memberships?
They want you to get the Wal-Mart +

But that is because you pay to be a "Prime" customer.
What about the confusion and rip off by Amazon everyday stealing from less fortunate people where when you meet the requirements for "free shipping" as STATED on the PAGE. You go to pay for the order and you are charged for shipping by default unless you notice that and change it to free shipping. I CANT NOT for the life of me believe they still get away with it.

This is a primary reason I hate Amazon and use them as a last resort. They steal from the less fortunate who do not realize what they are doing. Buying something with free shipping but dont get free shipping unless they change the "bullet" on the order page to free shipping.
I understand why some don't like Amazon - but there model is built like Costco - you pay a membership. Difference is that without the membership you can't shop at Costco. I hate Costco actually - but we have a membership because I am married and the boss likes Costco.

In 2009 after the housing crash we had to move to a very small town due to wife's job - I'll spare you the story but we had 2 small kids in elementary school that always seemed to need something, there were very few shopping options except for an hour away almost, and I had a job that had me travelling 4 or 5 days a week. This was when prime first started and would deliver in 2 days, and I don't think we would have survived without it. Well obviously we would have - but you get the idea. Since then I have always been very happy with Amazon service, but I have always had Prime.

That story above was from the pandemic year 2020.
Store traffic was up this year 2022

As far as shipping policies (and return policies) for online stores as others have said those policies do not apply for third party sellers.
The stories are deceiving. Of course traffic is up after it went to nearly zero.

It works for Kohls. I definitely go in there more and look for a cheap shirt or whatever on my way out with the coupon.

Everyone I talked to said the stores were practically empty. It was a very quiet Black Friday.

One reason the malls are going downhill is the criminal element. It’s like playing the lottery. @GON got lucky going to the mall in Puyallup. I believe that after he and his wife left there was a shooting in the mall parking lot.

I could have sworn the article I linked was for this year. My eyes betrayed me. 🤣

I think this may be the case. I’ve ordered mostly the same items from walmart dot com before and received free 3 day shipping. Now, suddenly, these items are only available to pick up in store, or deliver for $9.95. I was able to get most of what I needed from Amazon at the same price but free shipping.

PT,

I am not conceal carry motivated, but I did conceal carry on that shopping trip. I cringe having to do it, but seeing the live local crime reports I have started to carry as a duty and responsibility, not a desire.
