Walmart: Kumho Solus TA31 sale

I put a set of these on one of our cars as a replacement for some General RT43's. Compared to the Generals, these were not as good. They wore out more quickly and most importantly in Seattle, they had worse wet pavement traction. Both stopping and starting. I would try something else before buying those TA31's again.

I used these and found them more than satisfactory. They had a slightly wider and lower profile in same size. I liked them

I put a set of these on the 1991 DLX about five years ago. They’ve been fine. Nothing fancy, and nothing troubling. They appear to be a basic, serviceable tire.

About 25-30 years ago, racing in SCCA, everyone ran either BFG R1 or Hoosier tires. Then Kumho came out with the V700, which had comparable traction. Great for racing, street legal, lasted longer than either BFGs or Hoosiers, and less expensive. I ran them on a 3rd Gen RX-7 and a Panoz Roadster, they were good for 1.3 G of cornering. (y)

So, I need tires for my Mazda 3. Not a big fan of the TOYO OEM tires on them. I haven't been great at rotating them, so the fronts are done, rear have a little but of life yet. Unfortunately, they don't make Kumho Solus in my size. I did, however, stumble on some WestLake tires at Walmart. I have used them in the past and thought they were a really good general purpose commuter tire. They were having a similar sale. Paid $389 out the door for 4 tires, and that includes the certificate for tire replacement in event of road hazrd, etc. Having them installed Friday. Thanks to OP for sending me down the track!

I had those on my vehicle for autocross and some road course racing. V710 as well. I made the mistake of driving home on them once, tore them all up.

I had Kumho Road Venture all seasons on our 4Runner, they were just fine. I want to say they were even made in the USA.

I ran the V700 tires all the time even on the street so I didn't have to buy another set of wheels and swap just for autox events. They typically lasted about 5,000 miles overall, but both of those cars were light.

FWIW, when the OEM tires on my Mazda 3 wore out I installed Conti PureContact. 30,000 miles later they've been excellent in every way - better grip, better wear, quieter, etc. Recommended!

Those look really nice, but nearly $200 a tire! That would cost over a grand installed. Not in my budget right now. I wish though!
