Walmart EverStart batteries?

Still shows JCs to make Everstart. I am not priviy to the RFP bid process, so indeed they may actually have more than one OEM. I did price the ones at Walmart and they had the characteristic JC's build. In the case of Kirtland Signature vs Sears Diehard the build similarities were almost identical.
I have used a bunch of the #41-4 batteries from Walmart. My lil cousin tortures his and this is after it got us home from picking up the car 2 hrs without an alt belt. We stopped at a Walmart on the way and picked up a spare in case the 1st died. Drove with 1 headlight for the last 1/2 hour and still made it home on the 1st one. Otherwise it's a steal, Euro car batteries are usually $100. Funny thing is the computer at Walmart does not offer MANY of the cars the thing fits, but I knew how to cross-reference it in my head. Consumer Reports put Advance Auto at #1 quality and Walmart in the middle, Die Hard was a bit lower.
Just installed a new Kenwood MP3/WMA receiver (only $123 at Best Buy!!) and cranked my favorite MP3 jams for a good 45 minutes...LOUDLY. The car started right up, the one with the WM battery.
Granted, we don't see temps from the artic circle, but it did work A-OK.

I must say I feel better about this now. The battery we purchased was a 36R, so it's the larger of the possibles, but it's the only one they offered that would fit.
As a couple of others have said, I've always had good luck with Motorcraft OE batteries. That's why I was so surprised this one didn't last longer.
My best luck has been with the Intersate brand though and if I would have had my way we'd have waited and gotten one of them today. I had the last Interstate I purchased last 7 1/2 years in our first Pathfinder. That's forever in Illinois...

I like my cheap regular everstart dual terminal batteries. I replaced an everstart in my caprice (unknown age but probably at least 4) with a dual terminal version. And even though it's under-rated (the battery is 630cca and GM wants 730cca for my car), it starts the car well in below zero weather.
I recently found a neat Exide application PDF and they make a 730cca with dual terminals. Next battery replacement, I'll try to find one I guess.

The under-$40 Walmart battery that fits my BMW has already outlasted the $80 Exide "International" battery it replaced. Dealer batteries are $150. I should say that the battery fits, but is not an EXACT replacement. The hold down had to be slightly modified.
I know first hand that stores here changed to Exide two years ago. I've spoken to the delivery drivers.
I have seen very old batteries still on the shelf and if your in an area that doesn't have huge battery demand(like no cold winters), it could be possible that they just haven't been bought yet.
