Was at my local Walmart to grab Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W20 for the Tundra. It’s hit and miss there. They were out. Walmart.com to the rescue. First time ordering online, lol. Will continue to do so.
I see a few reasons. You don’t see the product beforehand. It could be damaged in transit. It could be stolen from your porch.I see zero reason to step foot in a retail store when the same items can be purchased online at the same or lower cost.
Vendor will replace defective items or items that are damaged in transit. There is no need to "see" your engine oil before you buy it.I see a few reasons. You don’t see the product beforehand. It could be damaged in transit. It could be stolen from your porch.
I would rather not have that hassle of sending back something that is damaged or leaking. I also would want to make sure the oil isn’t old stock either and is the newest formula. And as I already mentioned, porch pirates are a big problem and that’s something you can’t dispute.Vendor will replace defective items or items that are damaged in transit. Going to the store carries an added cost that doesn't offer value.
It was like 2.00 cheaper in the store.True, but there are very often times when unadvertised sales and clearances occur.
Inducing foot traffic is one reason they do this.
I’m not that lazy, lol. It’s nice for the convenience.I would rather not have that hassle of sending back something that is damaged or leaking. I’m just not scared to drive to Walmart (or Canadian Tire). I like to drive, so I don’t need to sit at home to wait for things to arrive. I also never order food to be delivered either. Getting out and getting fresh air is always better than staying home.

Sometimes you have to do in-store purchase to get the rebate approved like with the Pennzoil rebates. I usually will go in/out through the garden or auto center and check out there. Usually not a huge ordeal. It was like 2.00 cheaper in the store.
I had a leaking Mobil 1 jug from Walmart; I called and they sent me another. They did not want the old one back. Click-click-click is so easy. Same here. I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 in both my vehicles. The store had none, and they did not have the filters either. Ordered from Walmart.com and they showed up the next day. And a nice discount too!!Was at my local Walmart to grab Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W20 for the Tundra. It’s hit and miss there. They were out. Walmart.com to the rescue. As @JeffKeryk - Walmart is great at handling damaged items. They do a very good job of packaging and leaks are rare.I would rather not have that hassle of sending back something that is damaged or leaking. I had added some light bulbs to my oil order. How freaking smart am I? Anyway, yeah, one broke. They immediately shipped out a new order for me. There's a reason why retail is a dying industry. It's simply a more efficient use of resources to have the item delivered to you. Grocery is about the only retail that I can somewhat justifying stepping foot in...I had added some light bulbs to my oil order. How freaking smart am I? Anyway, yeah, one broke. No need, because I still prefer buying stuff in store, call me old school. I don’t see it as a poor use of my time at all. I’m at Walmart and Canadian Tire all the time so it’s not like it’s a hassle for me. I buy a good amount of my groceries at WalmartAs @JeffKeryk - Walmart is great at handling damaged items. If anything, stock from the DC's is fresher than the store.
I'm all for getting out and about, but driving to a store is a poor use of time and resources when the item can show up at your doorstep. You may want to look into the various smart parcel box options.
