Walmart and oil changing

Your opinion's--should Walmart get out of the oil changing business?

Yesterday, Walmarts finest lost a lady's keys after changing oil on her car. By the time she found her husband/ 4hrs later to bring her a spare key, the husband was in a ranting mood to say the least...it was not a pretty picture,,,words cannot be printed here over her husbands tirade. Another nice day at Walmart, Cookeville tn.

I guess the above could happen to anyone, but I have never had any oil changing place ever lose my car keys...hmmm.
I do not use Wallys.............no way.

I'd be showing them a paystub, and demanding an equivalent amount to my hourly rate.

I see some people aren't terribly good at holding the service accountable.

The one time I used them....they didn't tighten the drain plug nor the filter properly. Oil was leaking out of both.

Never again.

I would leave the car where it is and inform the manager that they are responsible for contacting a locksmith and replacing my key and fob.

WalMart wants to be a monopoly.They want you to go there and nowhere else.They want to cover every possible consumer want/need to keep you from a competitor.Heck,they wanted a self owned Wal Mart bank until the Feds said NO.Now saying all that is good and well,but as it comes to oil changes and vehicle repair/maintenance...its widely posted all over the internet,how bad Walmart is on oil changes,and seized engines,loose lug nuts and lost wheels etc...Its up to the consumer to decide if they trust the 2nd most expensive thing they will ever buy to rank amateurs housed in a box that touts itself as the cheapest place to go for everything.While Walmart wants to be everything to everybody and isn't very good at anything...that's fine,but when people ignore all the bad press and continue to use them without a care in the world...well,they get whats coming to them.

Personally the woman's husband is a ****. As I told my daughter once..."Watch how your significant other treats others...he will eventually treat you the same way" Turned out to be true.

Stuff happens. I locked my own keys in my car two weeks ago. This has nothing to do with WM unless you just like to bash Walmart. Ed

All the newer Walmarts here don't have car repair service centers. So essentially-speaking, they are getting out of that business slowly.

If Walmart had a decent service center with a decent Mechanic that I could request, I'd go there. I often have tires swapped at my local Wally. I bring the wheels and tires, and they get installed with no scuffs or vibrations.

I of course install the wheels myself. Baby steps.

My local Carmax has some good techs. Unless they need to get deep into OEM diag, they're Johnny-On.

What gets me is they post an employee at the door pretending to be a greeter. We all know you're there with your 2-way radio to stop shoplifters! Why would a greeter need a 2-way radio ?

LP stops shoplifters. Maybe the walkies are for "Code Adams" or disabled people needing cart help.

Time to re-key all the locks on the house. If an employee has the keys they now have a key to your house and your address in their computer.

Whenever I have my car worked on I take the key off the ring, because there's apps where you take a picture of a key and they'll mail you a copy of that key for cheap.

Whenever I hand over my keys, even if for only a simple 30 minute smog check, I only give them the car key and nothing else. And I always have a spare car key. That woman was ill-prepared

None the less, Walmart owes them a replacement key and a $50 gift card to de-escalate the situation

I dont trust the regular store employees let alone want them changing my oil.

Not happening in my lifetime!

They dont do anything with shoplifters anymore except call the police. In fact last I heard they got rid of all their asset protection personnel after one of them got shot.
