Wal Mart Rant

The walmarts around here pay thier employees pretty good,I worked part time at night stocking shelves and was getting over 10:00 and hour, not bad for part time, I would imagine the pay scale at other walmarts across the country match or are close to what ever starting scale is. I know up here they have a very tough time hiring good help, It seems that once the new potential hire learns he has to submit to a drug test they never return, I had to take one when I was hired.I know quite a few people at the store I worked at and they have been there for years and they earn a very good wage,

Also I dont know why walmart is hated so much,They help out the community around here alot, they allow the ( Boy scouts, girl scouts, little league, etc ) to set up and have bake sales and whatever, and I do believe they were the only major chain to allow the salvation army to still continue with the bell ringers at the entrance, and they also matched all donations to the salvation army, I dont see that kind of community spirit at any other big box store in this area.

I respect Wal Mart a lot. I disagree with most of the "they put mom and pop out of business" complainers. Wal Mart was a "mom and pop" once. K-Mart was around long before Wal Mart. It must be shameful to K-Mart that Wal Mart was able to come out of nowhere and beat them at their own game. Look at all the economic benefit to the customers who can now get more selection at much better prices than the "mom and pops" were charging. Too bad for the few moms and pops put out of business, good for the many many many more customers.

That said, the downside is that once the competition is weak, Wal Mart can begin to slip. I think it is beginning to happen. My local Wal Mart has definitely gone downhill in the last year. And I have already begun buying elsewhere on some items.

The scanner law in Michigan requires the merchant to pay back ten times the overcharge up to a $5 maximum if the receipt shows a charge greater than the advertised price. You have to walk out the store before you can come back to claim it.

I've cashed in a number of times on this law.

I found a way to end wal-mart frustrations, I don't shop there. there are tons of local places I can buy oil and filters and I am glad to know that my $$ I spend will pay for the guy's benefits and is not supplimenting the chinese machine.
