When my gf`s buying makeup and stuff at Walmart,I always head straight for the oil aisle. I think it`s always fun chit chatting with someone about oil/cars there.

Actually the Yugo was mostly driven out of the market by the economic sanctions imposed upon Serbia in the early '90s because of the war.

If he was in a wheel chair I would say that you meet my father inlaw!!!! Actualy he is an Amsoil distributor now but I am sure most of that is just to get his oil for his vechiles and tractors at cost since I have never seen him sell any to anyone else! Prior to switching over to Amsoil all he ran was Napa brand 10W40 in everything that was not a tractor. His tractors had 15W40,5W40 and 0W40 depending on what the OEM called for and he had those in 55 gallon drums along with all the hypoid and hydralic fluids etc... He lives right on Lake Huron so it is cold their in the winter.
I would never recommend a 10w40 conventional for winter use but plenty of people do it and never have a spun bearing so it must not be as lethal as some of the thin oil Nazi's would have on believe! Personally I would not run anything but 5WXX during a true northern winter like we see in Michigan or in Wisconsin or Canada etc...... Now if he lived in Tn or Ga. or Fl I would say go for it run 15W50 if you like.
Prior to me turning my Dad onto Mobil 1 0W40 which he has not used in a while due to cost his usually stuff was Mobil 1 15W50 for the warm months and Mobil 1 10W30 for the winter months and that has been the routine now since about 1991. He has been using 5W30 and 10W30's a lot though lately because PP and Vavlolne Synthetic have been on sale and since his job revolves around GM working he has not been getting much work lately. Just the other day he put Walmart Super Tech 10W30 in Mom's 2007 Camry because they did not have any 5W30 in stock in the Jug's and I am sure here car will do just fine on it.
You have to keep in mind how many grown men that have lived in Michigan have ran 10W30 year round in them. My wifes 1997 Buick specificly calls for 10W30 on the oil fill cap and int he owner's manual. A properly blended 10W40 is going to behave much like a 10W30 it is the cheaply blended 10W40's that gave 10W40 a bad reputation in years past. A lot of companies just took their 10W30 product and used more VII's in it to make it a 10W40 and if they used cheap VII's then when they would shear and come apart they would accumulate and form sludge.
So while I would never chose a conventional 10w40 as my first choice for a Michigan winter I doubt he is going to spin a bearing because of it. Now a cheaply built 20W50 that would be a Michigan Winter bearing spinner if ever their was one!!!LOL

I don't shop Walmart and I don't buy oil/filters in stores.I have gone to Walmart with a buddy and people watch.Late night its a hoot!Cheap entertainment.
My girlfriend and I used to do that as well, go to Wal-Mart and look at the free "entertainment."

What would most have said if they realized that the gallon of PZ ester-syn TC-W3 2C oil I bought would be going into the gas tanks of my three gasoline-fueled, 4-stroke engine automobiles???

LOL...an "internet toughguy" I never said it ain't no good. I just was wondering what he was going to use it in. Evidently, he will probably be using it in a newer car that calls for 5w30. Yeah...it will work though.
