wait, or change the oil now?

so i changed out the FF oil about 4.2k and im coming up on 5k later with 24% oil life left. im runnning Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 and a fram ultra on ther right now. next oil change is with more Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 and a purolator boss.

so i went out to add some washer fluid because the light had been on for the last 3 weeks and i went to check the oil level since the hood was open. oil is a dark brown almost black. i could see some sparkles in the oil but not to bad.

i was planning on changing it late may early june before i take 2 roadtrips of prob 1,500 miles. or changing it when the OLM goes off.

Q really is should i change it out now to get more of the break in metals out or wait for the OLM/ late may?

Ill prob do this. I'd say 2 short oil changes could do some good getting the break in metals out. Ill do a cut and post on the fram ulta when i do the Oil change.

Did you have much metal/"sparkles" in the first change?

Just change it now, then use your OLM from now on as long as it won't void the warranty.

Wasn't to bad, u cant really see the sparkles unless u really pay attention to the oil.

I would say it's not even half of the metal sparkles as the FF oil. So im thinking its just more break in metals.

I would change the oil/filter and change the drain plug to an magnetic version.
