W10 Home from W7 Home upgrade

Thought I would post my time to upgrade from W7 to W10 (both home IIRC).

After the download it took about 20 minutes on a T430 Lenovo laptop with a i5-3320M, 8Gb RAM and Intel SSD with several reboots. Chose to turn off all the snooping dialogs and everything seems to work so far including sound.

Currently, I only use windows to get windows updates, but I wanted to take advantage of the longer support and upgrade now, should a reason come up in the future where I would need to use it. I only had skype, putty and winscp installed so I think that helped also.

I think the SSD helped a lot; thought I would post to give some metrics as to what to expect timewise

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 and downgraded about two days later. It slowed my dual quad-core Xeon rig to a crawl. I have sub 10 second boot times with 8.1 and around 1 minute boot times with 10. 10 also blue screened for me three times in two days and with my work, I can't afford that kind of reliability. I'm glad to hear it's working well for you OP, I'm going to wait around for SP1.

Updated from 7 to 10 on my HP DM1 laptop:

AMD E-350 APU (one of the best net books of its time, and that's not a compliment)
8GB DDR3
320GB 7200RPM SATA HDD

It look a couple of hours. It's almost exactly the same for me, except for a few very obvious things (minus the UI tweaks):

Positive: Searching is easier and much more efficient (even if there's no UserCP button )

Negative: my synaptic track pad does not work as well as it used to. I've tweaked some settings, but it's still gimped. It's not bad enough for me to want to revert back to 7, but it's annoying, none the less.

Just updated my wife's Win 7 Insperon 570 from Linux Mint 7 to Win 10 Pro using the process outlined in the other thread. Three hours later I I'm going to bed after working a graveyard shift.
