Thanks for info. As a long time fan of the Jetta I really would hate for the nameplate to go away so I hope it can stick it out until VW makes an electrified Jetta.

Didn't know Jetta had an availability problem, if it did it was forced.
Their big push is SUVs these days. Apparently the Jetta GLI is pretty watered down compared to the GTI these days and has completely different transmission tuning. Probably explains how a GLI Autobahn is $10k less than a GTI Autobahn.

Surprised that they are selling that many ID4s, they usually show in transit for my area dealers. Maybe they are selling right off the truck. I do see more of them than I used to.

VAG has been raiding Jetta production for components to be diverted into higher profit vehicles ever since 20. I’ve 5 dealers in my area and generally not more than a half dozen actually on the lot collectively. When VW was still building Jettas at full production it was still their number 2 volume seller.

I asked my dealer about this. Apparently all cars sent to them, including orders already spoken for will show as incoming vehicles with VWs inventory system until they show up and are taken delivery of. They told me if to want anything electric or in higher demand like a Golf R, you’d be best to just order it.

I honestly think current term its a mistake to neuter the Jetta availability like that. I know the Taos is now the new defacto Jetta but not everyone wants a CUV and they will have other makes conquer the Jetta customers who don't want a Taos (Corolla, Civic, Sentra, Elantra, Forte, etc.) but can't secure the Jetta they want. Almost like they are actively trying to make the Jetta go away.

Oh well, it is what it is I guess.

One of the guys on my road just traded in his GTI for a Taos! I get it, it’s still a nice vehicle, but I couldn’t see doing that. I don’t recall seeing anything new on the lot that wasn’t an SUV on my last visit.

Totally agree!

Despite manufacturers falling all over themselves to fight over the already softening 5% EV market, sedan sales are more than triple that despite constant discontinuation of models. Smart play would be to build as many of a competitive existing model as you could and gain market share.

Affordable and practical sedans could be hot in a rough economy.

Well … I call them CUV and SUV too 😷
Agree, ether way they are not traditional 4 door sedans which is a very small part of the USA market for good reason. I always stress USA as we have a vast interstate system and vast land mass, never mind disposable income and access to loans. :censored:
Unrelated, boat an example on how we live North America holds 45% of the world wide leisure boat market too.

A lot of time I see statements in here that use the EU and Norway as examples regarding cars and even EVs... those countries are nothing like ours and they have traditionally drove small cars have small land mass throw in punishing taxes and fees on fuel.
Other times size of the population isnt taken into account, example Norway has a population 30% smaller than Long Island, NY

Sadly the EV rebate thread got deleted, but the Chattanooga built ID.4 is now also eligible for the full $7,500 rebate 👍
