VW Passat CC

I had a chance to drive this around a few days.
The new VW Passat CC.This one has V6 with automatic,loaded.
Great car in general,outstanding build quality,plenty of low/mid range power and superb handling.
Not a super car on the autobahn only 230 kmh vmax,not really enough power to play very long in the left lane because of the weak acceleration above 180 kmh but sufficient for high speed cruising.

Those are great cars to drive (albeit I never drove one over 120 km/h)! Quite big as well, judging by European standards. The only downside, IMO, is parts are costly and the engine bay is tight to work on.

They are a nice car, but I tried sitting in one of those at the autoshow and couldn't fit with my 6'2" torso tall body without reclining the seat to a gangster like position.

The back-seat was a right off for me too.

And like every other VW, it's overpriced IMO.

Nice looking car though!

Nah, not when you add the a-la-carte items it has standard.

I actually consider my Tiguan a bargain at $21k.

Love the CC and Passat. Would get one in a heartbeat, of I could afford it.

How much should it cost, according to you?

The CC with a 2.0T engine goes for mid to high 20s... about the same as an Accord, and between the two, I'd rather get the CC. Otherwise, I'd die of boredom.

Well, in Canada, the spirit of Walmart's oil price rollbacks hasn't hit new cars yet. I believe the base price of the CC is somewhere around $33,000 or so. When one gets the full load with AWD, it tops $50,000.

All that being said, there are a lot worse cars out there for the same or more money. I don't find them wildly overpriced compared to other vehicles.

If I want a Focus, I expect it to be cheaper. If I want a CC, I should expect to pay more. If I buy a new Bentley, I had better not expect it to be in the mid to high twenties.

Its base price is over $30K up here and that is what I'm basing it on. Then you have 13% sales tax on top of that

even though our dollar is almost on par with yours.

I would rather have the Accord now that the transmission problems have been corrected for a few years because I know I will still be driving it with minimal upkeep costs for more years than the VW. VW doesn't have a good reputation for reliability/durability. They have phenomenal engineering like any good German company should but they need to spend more time in fine-tuning its reliability.

All cars today are about as ugly and I find all the styling bland and somewhat the same so I go for durability because I'm all about the cheapest way I can get the job done as vehicles are not assets they are debts that stand between me and early retirement so I spend the least amount possible!

Oh yeah, I remember we've had this conversation before.

For me, it needs to be somewhat fun to drive, too, even if it comes at the expense of reliability. But in general, my experience with VAG cars has been relatively good. My '01 A4 was more reliable than my '00 Accord, and my fiancee's '01 Jetta wasn't too bad either, but a few things did end up being replaced under warranty.

The replacement parts are generally more expensive than other brands and the reliability although in your experiences is good in general isn't as good according to different consumer group reports etc. They are also more expensive to begin with than other brands (at least up here) so for me it's a no go.

I would love a Jetta diesel because it would be perfect for the miles I rack up and would be good on fuel but the added initial cost of the vehicle and total overall cost of ownership negates it as a viable choice IMO.
