I currently use the VW OE filter which is made by Mann (Mann part #719/30, VW part #06A 115 561 B). The bypass valve is at the far end of the filter.

The other day, I saw a Bosch filter for the same vehicle. This filter looked very similar to the Mann filter (same type holes on the faceplate etc), except the bypass filter was near the threaded end of the filter.

Is there a benefit of one of these filters over the other?

Thanks.

What vehicle are we talking about here? Please tell me it's NOT a VW/Audi 1.8T, which requires an OE VW068 filter, or larger.
