What is killing manufacturing in Germany, and Europe in general is the cost of electricity. That the auto industry was cajoled into moving to EV vehicles before the general public was willing is making the OEM's lose money on any EV.

Historically the German auto unions are very considerate of the need for car makers to be profitable, the unions are involved with the OEM's to know the balance sheet details as these numbers come in, not just the published data.
