VW EV sales tops Tesla in Germany

But they're not good EVs. If you want a good VW, literally buy anything else they make. The Taycan seems to be great, but the price is on another planet.
Germans, who seem to know cars, seem to think otherwise. They buy more VWs than Teslas.

Have you driven one? The EA888 2.0T experience is well beyond any EV crap they've developed. I'll take an ICE VW. If I'm buying an EV it'll be a Tesla.
I’ve driven a Tesla M3P multiple times and know how abysmal the suspension is. Doubt the VW is that bad.

You could opt for Sensafin.
You're going to have to fill me in on what that is. I like my Tesla, but the interior of my GTI with actual leather is better. I like the Tesla and the interior design is fine and simple, but the seats are merely ok.

Oh my Dynamic Chassis Control kills anything that Tesla can do. That's not the problem with EV VWs though, it's everything else, including delivering the cars. All of us that couldn't get them at the time moved to Teslas and now they're all sitting on the lots with massive discounts. If I want driving experience I'll take a turbo VW. If I want a good EV I'll take a Tesla. If I want a boring but inoffensive car with quality issues that puts me to sleep I'll buy a VW EV.

Just search VW Sensafin.

Pretty sure my 17 year old Cayman S with steel springs and old shocks is still 20 years ahead of what Tesla has. Both my other cars have air bags, adaptive suspension, rear wheel steering, and one has anti roll. Neither is as engaging and predictable as my Cayman. The Tesla scared the excrement out of me when pushed to the limit. Snap oversteer last experienced with a swing axle VW.

Sour grapes?
No, I just know cars well enough to know a sub par vehicle when I see it. 100K + car and comes with "vegan leather" plastic upholstery.
Poor fitment of body and interior panels, poor paint, what else are they not getting right? I am sure VW/Audi does not have these flaws, getting these things right is basic quality car building. I can see a VW hybrid being a nice car for a decent price.

Germans are particular about details. If they are going to spend a ton of € then they want those details and in their preference.

So it's MB-Tex with more interesting stitching. I'm sure beyond that it's not much different than Tesla's material, but executed in a much better way. The problem with synthetic leathers is that it is rubber based which stretches in all directions which makes it sticky feeling compared to real leather. Leather only stretches with the grain. I personally like the feel of real leather, but I don't think it's the best solution for interiors, it's just been the accepted luxury option. Cloth is better if you want something more "eco friendly", but faking leather is weird. I like the leather in my GTI and I'm a bit of a fan of high quality leather goods(wallets, belts, and shoes), but it requires more care than cloth anyway. I don't mind putting in the effort though because I like the process. I honestly don't know what to do with the seats in the Tesla. I use Mother's VLR because it's for vinyl and leather, but I haven't found a definitive answer that it'll actually make them last longer. I know leather cared for can last a very long time because I've had old cars with leather.

You do know that literally every Tesla owner that interacts with you on the site bought new cars for less than half of the price you're referring to, right? I was also very picky when we picked up our Tesla and have no fit and finish issues. I'm not saying there aren't cars that have them, but I detail my own cars and I have found nothing out of place on mine. I'm sure I could have gotten lucky, but I rarely have luck on my side.

A VW hybrid is probably lovely, but that's not what I want from VW. I still see them as a fun car company even though they're slowly killing everything fun about the brand.

You're comparing a sports car from one of the most legendary car manufacturers in the world with a basic sedan. Really?

Again, that's your opinion. Don't buy one if it's not for you. Plenty of other customers are very happy with their Teslas. If you want leather, dials, buttons, don't shop Tesla. That's not what these cars are about.
My car is 4.5 years old; a week ago the car threw a low voltage battery warning message and advised me to schedule service. Click-click-click on my cell and the mobile tech was scheduled. The car ran fine. The mobile tech came out and replaced the battery. Unfortunately the battery warranty was 4 years. The cost was $123. He also checked the car over for any known issues. He told me our car was one of the best early Model 3s he had seen.

Before you rag on the Tesla battery (51R like 4 banger Hondas), I also had to replace the AGM in our '21 RX450h. This time the car was bricked. $200 at Costco and I was back on the road. Unfortunately the RX was at our other house 90 miles away; not quite as convenient as the Tesla free mobile service.

So, quality? This is the 1st time the car has seen a tech. I've rotated the tires and added wiper fluid. What is the cost of 1 oil change service on a MBZ? Heck what about a Camry?
This is why people love these cars. They just run and run. They are a flat out blast to drive. And for fiscally minded people like me, I installed solar panels which allow me to run the house and the car for an absurdly low cost. I can easily spend $100 per week driving my ICE cars. And I have to go somewhere to gas 'em up? What a pain.

I'm sure you know cars very well. But as far a Teslas go, you are hardly open minded to real world ownership. Or their place in the world.
Motor Trend on the 23 Model Y.

I don’t think the VW ID4 and other variants and Tesla are comparable. They each have different niche and Tesla is not a car for masses yet.
Tesla is the EV mainstream choice. Have you looked around? The ID.4 isn't bad, but it's not a great example of what an EV can be. If it was an ICE car other than being stuck to a lesser charging network the experience would be no different. It's the addition of all the mediocre worst parts of VW added up. It's disappointing because I love VW.

You forget my other two cars. Yes really.
Why would I know what you drive? It's not in your signature. The fact is if the Tesla ran circles around my GTI(literally cornering), there would be a problem with the GTI. An EV especially as simple in design as a Tesla should pale in comparison to a properly designed mid engined sports car. If it did match up, it would be the holy grail of the 4 door affordable market. You expect a lot of a family sedan. 😂

The Caymans and Boxters are flat out gorgeous. Silicon Valley is a huge Porsche market. I've had many friends with them. Practically every owner told me they were constantly in the shop due to breaking down. I hope your car is better.
