Volvo Penta Engine noise

I hear a faint ticking or chirping sound. Not sure what it is.

I touched a mechanics stethoscope to raw water pump, PS pump, alternator and idler and tensioner. Did not hear ticking or chirping sound.

The tensioner seemed to have a rougher bearing sound that the idler. I would have thought they would both sound similar. Maybe replace tensioner.

sounds like some sort of belt or pulley noise to me. Good luck.

sounds like a rough bearing. Trouble with them is the"while you're in theres"

It’s not crank speed or cam speed. Definitely belt drive noise. I would suspect the belt because it is a very low frequency. Greasy or contaminated spot on the belt would be my guess.

Being a boat engine the belt sat in one position for the winter. Maybe it will smooth out with more summer use.
